Not that this comes as a surprise to many people, but this watch is the first time anyone has combined a tourbillon movement with real bullets.

When are skulls on a watch the less controversial choice? When skulls replace bullets of course. As a limited edition (of perhaps only one), Yvan Arpa’s Artya brand based out of Geneva has created a special piece for Halloween 2013 of his Son of a Gun watch collection with skulls on the dial – as well as on the bracelet.
Hands-on with the ArtyA Son of Sound was an experience with one of the more interesting watches from one of the more interesting brands at Baselw0rld 2013. We first debuted the Son of Sound guitar-style watch here. Certainly polarizing the Son of Sound is a further effort by ArtyAs Yvan Arpa to connect with the rock and rollers his brand does so well with.
In the last year Swiss art watch brand ArtyA has transformed itself from extremely avant garde “creative” watches to something like this guitar head-shaped Son of Sound collection. The brand was once about just creating totally one-of-a-kind watches that combined the work of an artist and watch maker.
When I first wrote about these watches their name wasn’t clear. I called them the Artya Time Shot watches, but Artya prefers the name “Son of a Gun” collection. OK, cool. The point of the collection of piece unique watches is to have bullets in them. My first question when checking these out for the […]
Few watch brands would do something wild like this, but Artya would! Strange and poetic, you have to appreciate the political message and sentiment behind the brand’s new one-of-a-kind “Bye Bye Euro” timepiece. It combines humor and art to comment on the fact that the Euro as a currency might have not been the best […]
First I want to say that these watches were sort of commissioned by the members of KISS. Yvan Arpa of Artya was contacted by Gene Simmons who said that he liked his work and wanted to have Artya make special watches for KISS. So Arpa flew out to LA to spend time with the band […]
Yvan Arpa’s newest concept for his Artya brand is combining bullets and watches. The result will be a new series of strictly piece unique watches that somehow combine guns and timepieces. This one (called the Sun of a Gun) literally takes bullets and sticks them in the dial and the rotor. I am sort of […]
I got a sneak preview of this watch a few months ago and am happy to now be able to show it to you. This is the Artya Perpetual Calendar watch – it combines an exclusive manufacture movement with a surprisingly clean and technical design from the “art watch” brand. The Perpetual Calendar will be […]
Artya watches finally has released their online e-commerce store. The brand started by Yvan Arpa has been making polarizing art timepieces for a little while now. They have been talking the web shop for a while, and it has finally been launched. Why is this good? Well in addition to giving fans of their work […]
Let’s talk about weird. There is a good weird, and there is certainly bad weird. Which category any particular “weird” falls into it highly subjective. On most accords this watch is weird. I mean look at it? It is unlike almost everything else out there. A one of a kind creation by Yvan Arpa’s Artya […]
Straight up petrified dinosaur shit in a watch. Either it is the poor man’s fossil accessory, of the edgiest piece of the Jurassic available. You’d actually be surprised how many people collect the substance known as coprolite. You have probably already guessed what it is. In his ongoing quest to shock, awe, and inspire, Yvan […]
