…Though for Harry Winston the Opus collection remains an enduring production as well as design challenge. The Opus XIII collection follows suit and is an interesting new Opus timepiece produced by the very talented French watch maker Ludovic Ballouard. Formerly with F.P. Journe, Ballouard is known among select watch aficionado circles for his Upside Down watch.

Back in 2009 Harry Winston released the first Histoire de Tourbillon 1 watch. I rather enjoyed it especially at it looked a lot like the Sand People from Star Wars. Since then the Histoire de Tourbillon watch collection has be a sort of “Opus light” that explored new and interesting ways of presenting a tourbillon watch.
The Swatch Group and Harry Winston announced today January 14th, 2013, that Swiss Swatch Group has acquired the entirety of the Harry Winston jewelry and timepiece division.
Each year we get a new stream of interesting Harry Winston Ocean watches. Many are cool, some are strange, and some like this Ocean Triple Retrograde Chronograph watch just seem to hit a sweet spot. Release of this watch coincides with the interesting news that Harry Winston is looking to sell off their watch and […]
I normally don’t cover boutique openings (so I am not likely going to start now) but in conjunction with the opening of their new Shanghai Pavilion boutique, Harry Winston released not one but five new limited edition models. None of these are novel per se mechanically -but offer some very beautiful interpretations of things we […]
Looking forward to the next Harry Winston Opus watch is becoming an annual tradition. For 2012 Harry Winston releases the new Opus 12 watch which was made in collaboration with watch maker Emmanuel Bouchet. You can check out coverage of last year’s extremely popular Opus XI model here. At a glance the Opus 12 is […]
Welcome to the third installment of the Historie de Tourbillon watch collection from Harry Winston. These pieces have always amused and entertained me. For instance, when they came out with the first Historie de Tourbillon watch here I compared it to Star Wars droids. This third piece is something altogether new but retains the conceptual […]
Harry Winston will soon launch this new collection of watches called the Ocean Sport. While I don’t think the name sounds particularly high-end (though the Ocean is a long standing Harry Winston watch), they are interesting are relatively simple and satisfying sport versions of the iconic Harry Winston Ocean watch fare. The Ocean Sport will […]
With pieces like the Opus Eleven being so popular it is easy to miss other new Harry Winston watches for 2011 that are interesting. The Midnight collection received a rather major over-haul (retro-haul) among a few models. The most interesting is the Harry Winston Midnight Big Date. Functionally the Midnight Big Date is a simple […]
You can’t buy it. Well technically you can, but you need to fly to Monaco in September and bid really high. This is Harry Winston’s entry into the Only Watch 2011 charity auction that I keep profiling when new entries are released. Harry Winston’s offering is this Midnight GMT Tourbillon (ref. 450/MATTZ45PL.A). The reason I […]
With another year comes another Harry Winston Opus watch. As we eagerly anticipate the result per annum, 2011 reveals itself as being a shockingly good season for the collection. Back in 2000 the Opus collection started as a series of limited edition timepieces that were a collaboration between Harry Winston and a single famous watch […]
This is the tenth Opus collection watch from Harry Winston since 2001.It is deviously complicated to explain what it does or how it works. Just looking at the Opus X watch makes it seems like a simple matter of having various dials for various pieces of information. What you wouldn’t understand is that the entire […]
Is it weird that I sometimes compare watches with things I know in pop culture? I find it especially gratifying to compare exclusive multi-hundred thousand dollar timepieces with such plebeian pop culture essentials as the Tusken Raider Sand People from the Star Wars universe. Really though, look at the face of this Harry Winston Histoire […]
