The stand-out collector’s (wealthy collector) Piaget watch for 2013 is the Emperador Coussin XL Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater (that we debuted here). In our previous article on the watch we discussed most of the technical specs and we won’t repeat all of those here. This post is about hands-on with the slim and formal minute repeater – a continuation of Piaget’s quest to offer as complete a family of ultra-thin watches as possible.

The lovely dress watch is a new version of the Altiplano 43 Automatic that came out a few years ago. What’s new? Well the size is down to 40mm from 43mm and Piaget added a date complication.
Say friend, are you looking for a fancy formal watch that isn’t quite like anything else but won’t make your friends do a double take? Well then Piaget might just have something for you. This new collection for 2012 is a sort of amalgamation watch taking into consideration design cues from a many different Piaget timepieces including the Polo, Emperador, and Altiplano.
For SIHH 2013 Piaget will once again break a record when it comes to being thin with the Emperador Coussin XL Ultra Thin Minute Repeater. No we are not talking about anything related to “The Biggest Loser,” but rather a new movement which is the thinnest of its kind. Traditionally Piaget has been known for making very thin mechanical movements.
In Chinese culture the year of the dragon is coming. How cool does that sound? I mean sure we can laugh at the year of the monkey, and no one wants to be born on the year of the pig – but the year of the dragon? Pretty bad-ass if you ask me. Well luxo […]
For 2012 Piaget will release this very special watch that furthers their desire to be the thinnest around in a number or categories. Last year it was the Altiplano 43 Automatic that was the thinnest automatic watch with the thinnest automatic movement. This year (perhaps among other “record” things) Piaget will offer the thinnest skeletonized […]
Up in the mountains of Switzerland watch movements are made. Down in the city of Geneva watches are borne. The contrast between the people who make the inside of watches and the outside of them is a benefit to the industry. You want watchmakers to be focused, hard workers who dedicate their lives to building […]
A Piaget dive watch?! Oh yes, and here is the proof. Get ready to go underwater in your black bow tie. I was pretty amazed to discover this watch that was made in the mid 1990s. It is very difficult to find information on this watch by the way. I believe it is called the […]
Piaget’s flagship men’s watch for 2011 is the Emperador Coussin Tourbillon Automatic Ultra-Thin. I first wrote about the watch here. There you can learn more about the technical details there and in the Haute Living article that I wrote. In this article I would like to talk more about being with the watch now that […]
Piaget new little flagship watch isn’t so little, but it is skinny. This is the thinnest automatic tourbillon watch on the planet – and it really is nice to look at. Comes complete with a front mounted solid gold automatic micro-rotor, and rear-mounted power reserve indicator. Sure you can even tell the time as well […]
When I first saw this Piaget watch almost a year ago it was safely put away behind glass, teasing me with its ‘no-so-thin’ charms. At 43mm wide and just 5.25mm thick, this is a dream come true for people who want a stately looking watch in diameter, but also one that offers an extremely thin […]
Many people dream of really thin mechanical watches. I’ve even had people tell me how awesome it would be to have this ultra wafer-thin watches. For me the idea wasn’t super appealing in theory, and then I finally got to experience some ultra thin mechanical watches and the desire turned on like a light a […]
July 20, 2009 was the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission that famously made… the Omega Speedmaster Professional watch world famous. Oh yea, and it was cool that we landed on the moon as well. Trust me, on each occasion that can be fathomably possible, Omega relishes in its [past] achievements. Why […]
Here is the beautiful and uncommonly sporty new Polo Chronograph from Piaget that debuted at SIHH this year. What I really like is this video from TheTimeTV.com that has Piaget themselves casually discuss the watch. I love hearing that smooth French accent discuss this fine offering, from a fine watch company. Interestingly enough their primary […]
It’s true. Get this watch for your special lady and she won’t have anything to complain about. If she does, then I’d suggest giving the watch to another woman…any other woman. Say you are an uptight guy, and saying those three little words doesn’t come as easy as you would like. Maybe the whole tone […]
It is nice to have your tastes validated, especially by people with such legendary priss a Swiss watch magazines. The magazine Montres Passion once again released the results of their annual Watch of the Year Award (2008) giving actual trophy awards to several watches in a few categories. However, the title of “watch of the […]
