Allow us to take this opportunity to not just review a unique version of the TAG Heuer Monaco, but also to review the collection as a whole. The Monaco is one of TAG Heuer’s most famous watch families, sporting a cushion/square case which was originally debuted in 1969 – an important year for watch making, and an important year for Heuer.

It’s November in the Jura region of Switzerland in a small town none of us have heard of called Chevenez. It begins to snow outside as we tour the modern black and white colored grounds of TAG Heuer’s newest facility known as the d’Avant-Garde Manufacture. Recently completed, the new manufacturing site began recently in 2012. Now that it is done, the location will be the epicenter of TAG Heuer mechanical chronograph movement production including the just announced Calibre 1969.
As watch geeks, we’ve spent a lot of time pondering smartwatches. Here’s one we didn’t anticipate, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer 72. TAG partnered with Oracle Team USA to create a single-purpose smartwatch for the sailors in the America’s Cup 2013, and the results are fascinating. Let’s take a closer look.
For the first weekend in September, the folks at LVMH and TAG Heuer hosted a weekend in San Francisco to watch the America’s Cup yacht races. Normally this would be Ariel’s gig, but he was off-continent and I got to go instead. It was a heck of a trip – San Fran in September, high tech and high speed sailing and even some watch content, too!
In its nearly three decades of existence, the Formula 1 has always been one of Tag Heuer’s entry level products and relied on quartz movements to keep prices as accessible as possible. Recently, Tag Heuer announced the first men’s mechanical Formula 1 model, a chronograph powered by their Calibre 16 automatic movement.
Need another flavor of TAG Heuer Link? The newest chronograph version of the iconic collection will be this Link Calibre 18 watch – a new Link with a new movement for TAG Heuer. The Swiss brand revamped the Link collection with an updated case and bracelet back in 2011. Since then we aren’t aware of too many new models until now with this Calibre 18.
Carrera fans wanting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous TAG Heuer watch will likely love the Carrera Calibre 1887 Jack Heuer Edition watch that mixes so many elements of Carrera’s past, present, and future.
Tag Heuer and Zenith are both part of the LVMH group and, with that connection, comes certain benefits. The new Tag Heuer Calibre 36 Chronograph Flyback models offer a prestigious alternative to TH’s 1887 in-house chronographs by employing a Tag-modified Zenith El Primero chronograph movement.
The TAG Heuer MikroPendulumS has just been announced and it looks to be a technical tour-de-force. Finally TAG Heuer has been able to perfect their pendulum magnetic escapement concept enough to put it into a production timepiece…
It’s 1963 and motor racing, as it is today, is a popular pastime all over the world and certainly here in America. The American muscle car companies and the well known European car companies, are all battling for dominance on the track. As they do today, these car races are also the place for experimenting with the latest engines, tires, chassis, and overall race car designs.
2013 is the 50th Anniversary of the Carrera watch, and while the other Carrera models are nice, nothing beats the stand out vintage vibe of the Jack Heuer Special Editions. This pair of watches celebrating famed Honorary Chairman of Tag Heuer, Jack Heuer, the Heuer Carrera Calibre 17 and the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Chronograph – Jack Heuer Editions are eye-catching beauties that certainly belong together as a study in how Tag Heuer as a brand has evolved through the years.
Now, we have already established that 2013 is the 50th anniversary of the TAG Heuer Carrera watch collection. To start, TAG Heuer has sprinkled out a few “concept” pieces such as the Carrera CMC Concept Chronograph watch and another bull-head style Carrera with the Jack Heuer version. These, while cool, are clearly niche models meant for limited audiences.
Tag Heuer obviously knows chronographs. If one is keeping score – Heuer was the first brand to launch a mechanical chronograph and not only in 2011 did Tag Heuer launch their own in-house chronograph movement, the 1887, but they have also been teasing the horological world with the amazing tech and cutting edge designs of their Mikrogirder lines.
Hands-on review of the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Caliber 36 RS Caliper Chronograph Watch
There is something that watch maker Tag Heuer has which trumps most of its competitors. That thing is the person Mr. Jack Heuer. I sat down with Jack Heuer back in March to discuss his legacy and the debut of the Carrera Jack Heuer 80 Limited Edition watch.
Tag Heuer has been producing the Aquaracer line of divers for the better part of 20 years and the range has always promoted models to both the enthusiast and mass market buyers.
