Giveaway: Vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark 4.5 Watch

Giveaway: Vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark 4.5 Watch omega

You lucky readers get a treat this month. A chance to win a very special watch from a very special collector and aBlogtoRead.com sponsor. Out of Max Busser's (the "MB" in MB&F) personal collection is this circa 1974 Omega Speedmaster Mark 4.5 watch. In steel and about 42mm wide, this beauty is in quite good condition with a movement that was just serviced by MB&F's watch makers!

Inside the watch is an Omega movement that is a base automatic Lemania 5100. The 5100 is quite famous and has some interesting complications. While it might look like a Valjoux 7750 at first glance, the 5100 uses the central dial for counting both the seconds and the minutes, while the movement also has a synchronized 24 hour indicator the helps with military time and serving as a day/night indicator. This model is a euro version - so it has the days of the week in French. To learn more about this Omega Speedmaster watch, please check out this article by the late and great "Omega king" Chuck Maddox. Pieces like this watch range in value from about $1,500 - $2,000 and are not very common. So enter for a chance to win this one!

Thanlks for the great giveaway!!

Currently I owned a few vintage chinese mechanical watches by SEA-Gull but one of the vintage watch that I would really liked to own and be my one of my favorite is the Omega Seamaster Chronograph reference ST 176.001.

Thanks.

I would love to see what else Max has in his collection !!.. I can almost feel my mouth watering at the thought !!

Thats a great prize, thanks Max and Ariel...once again another great giveaway !!

My favourite of my vintage watches would be my IWC Mark XI..... Its a bit worse for wear and I have some better condition vintage watches...but this one was issued to and worn by my uncle so its got its own lifestory..... I am just glad he wasnt a prisoner of war in Vietnam !!! :) ;)

But as we are talking Omegas then I would have to say my Omega Pocket watch circa 1885..it belonged to my great grandad..its a plain small ligne watch in gunmetal grey...Omega has no details on it specifically as the museum curator explained the Omega reference files were destroyed in a fire in circa 1894 so it was a bit of a challenge finding out more about it not just for me but for the musuem curator as well apparently it has a very little known calibre from that time or following....it has been handed down to the eldest in my family along with the Omega the next generation bought... so there is an Omega from each generation passed down to the next generation... it would be nice to add this Omega to the family Omega collection to pass on...

The most vintage watch that I own in my collection presently would be a manual wind, Hamilton watch that my Dad owned when I was a kid. I would have to say it is 40 years old or so. All gold, 37mm in diameter, it is a great looking watch that holds a lot of memories.

I am focused on building a mature watch collection for myself. I really want a vintage piece for my collection, but am taking my time (mostly for financial reasons). I have been searching for Omega, Tag, Rolex from the 50's or 60's. Some day.

I do not have any vintage watches, though I would love a vintage Omega because I do have an Omega Planet Ocean and I love it. Thanks for the opportunity.

Greatings from Iceland. Love this website, but not as much as i love that watch. I don't have any vintage watches but I am a big fan of that steel style. Saving up for a J.S. Watch though, but it's going to be while...

P.s your sponsors must be insane :)

I have just one vintage watch in my collection, a classic Hamilton. I love this watch and wear it with pride. It is such a simple, clean and refined timepiece. My goal is to grow my collection with the purchase of a vintage Tag Monaco, of course it will be some time before my budget and wish-list line up.

My previous post got doubled up due to a slow network connection and because of that apparently deleted, so I'll try again ...

I got the collecting bug just recently and don't have any vintage watches because I don't have a collection. But would love to have the Patek Philippe 2523 that just sold at Christie's - but wouldn't we all!

I just picked up the watch collecting bug recently, so I don't have any vintage watches yet because I don't even have a collection. But would love to have the Patek Philippe ref 2523 that just sold at Christie's (wouldn't any of us!). Thanks for the great site Ariel.

Looks like I am in the same spot as many commenters that have yet to venture into the vintage watch realm as it's hard to draw oneself away from how good watches have become. Having said that a Hauer Silverstone and a A. Lange & Söhne B-Uhr would be 3rd and 1 st respectively on my list with number 2 being A Speedmaster from the 60's

I don't own myself a Omega watch, but if i could choose one, the Constellation Double Eagle Chrono would be the first choice.

My favorite (for obvious sentimental reasons) is a 40-something year old Cortebert watch my father got for a 10 year anniversary at a company he worked for at a time. Nothing spectacular but very dear to me.
