Hublot Big Bang Minute Repeater Tourbillon Watch

Hublot Big Bang Minute Repeater Tourbillon Watch hublot

This very cool watch from Hublot has a movement made by Mathias Buttet's department. Buttet runs the Hublot Confrerie Horlogere (formerly of BNB Concept) - I discussed this more here. The gorgeous movement is incredibly traditional in style compared to the forward looking designs of Hublot watches. The piece is called the Big Bang Minute Repeater Tourbillon and is limited to just 10 pieces. Functions include the time, a flying tourbillon, and a great sounding minute repeater. Listen to it in the video (which is of the movement that is in the watch).

I fall squarely on the fence it is a work of art to look at but as a watch I would need several goes at reading the face .

Am I the only one who thinks it will be hard to read the time on this design?

Probably not, that is what the minute repeater is for :)

I've been eagerly awaiting the new items from the former BNB crew. This does not dissapoint.

Normally, rose gold makes me gag, and the lack of legibility in skeleton dilas leaves me cold. This however, really looks like it's worth the fortune they'll certainly ask. I'm a minute repeater and tourby geek, so this is great.

For me the second still picture isn't displaying. I like the pics posted on "Hot Livin'" better. The darker dial and RG hands are cleaner looking to me.

It is a very cool watch. Sorry about the second image. This is a frustrating issue with my CDN. Try again and let me know OK?

I'm on the other side of the coin - I feel this one falls short of other more recent Hublot design offerings. The hands are all but hidden, and the sweeping bits on the right side of the face (enameled?) are not doing what will obviously be a deep-into-6-figures piece any justice at all.

I love the minute repeater though. It's a complication I've always wanted, for no other reason that it's unique novelty. And not that I don't like the chimes, but I'd love to have one with harder sounds that weren't so musical. Of course I understand that there are very real limits to what a gong can sound like, but wouldn't it be fun to have a bigger/tougher watch that went Bang Crash Smash instead of ding dong bing?

No one will agree with me on that one, but I don't care - this is my fantasy repeater dammit.

I guess it's reasonable to say that I'm somewhat of a critic (not watch snob...I'm too poor for that!). I have even taken side against some of Hublot's recent designs and their price tags. However, when I saw this watch my jaw dropped...seriously. This is one of the most beautiful timepieces that you have ever reviewed. Granted, I'm not a huge tourbillon guy...but holy smokes. The skeletonizing of the front and back is gorgeous and the lines are extremely tasteful as is the bezel ( I like the Tie Fighter looking screws). Thanks Ariel...a treat indeed, sir.
