We, the small team at Solloshi Design, love and collect high-end watches, but do so perhaps for a reason a bit more unusual. It isn’t exactly the way the wheels mesh or the escapement “tick-tocks” – that’s part of it too – but rather, the attention to detail and quality of execution that we find in fine watches. We love how the most modern manufacturing techniques have turned high-end watches into wearable pieces of high-tech craftsmanship, and how there always has to remain room for an expert’s human touch. We are no watchmakers, but we wanted to somehow turn our passion for these beautiful objects into practice, so we set on a career of making comparably over-engineered stuff.

The $35,000 M-55 Terminus conceived and designed by Richard Solloshi.

Richard Solloshi, the founder and engineer at Solloshi Design has spent 20 years dedicated to architecture and interior design, now with over 100 successful projects under his belt. 10 years ago, his passion for cycling brought him into the bicycle industry where he channeled his visionary ideas into a next generation e-bike. He was the chief designer of several high-end electric bicycle projects exhibited and sold around the world, and it was during this time that he gained extensive knowledge and experience in the field of metalworking, with a special focus on high-tech, light, but strong materials such as the 7075 aluminium alloy or titanium.

Solloshi Design was born as an outlet for his deep understanding of these metals as well as state of the art metalworking, all dedicated to create a new range of products. All Solloshi products are admittedly over-engineered, every one of them being an exercise in how far manufacturing techniques and the most capable suppliers can be pushed. As such, our products are designed for and purchased by those collectors and connoisseurs, who want the absolute best in modern workmanship, execution, functionality, reliability and attention to detail.

This is our 888 Humidor that we’ll launch soon – here’s a prototype, crafted from a single block of aerospace grade AL7075 aluminium.

After four years of development and prototyping, Richard has entered the market with his hallmarked products under his own name. Based in Budapest, Hungary, the journey started with cigar accessories designed for the most demanding connoisseurs who appreciate the luxury touch and utility only a precision crafted item can provide. Solloshi purchases the base material from Switzerland and is responsible for the design, engineering, as well as ensuring the execution happens to its own extremely high standards. All products are made exclusively by the best, highly specialized suppliers found in Hungary – just a few of them can work with metal at such a scale and with such precision and so they actually are often specialized in completely different, niche industries, such as manufacturing high precision medical surgery tools.

The range of items has since expanded and now involves a wider variety of cigar accessories, bank card holders, lighters and bracelets, with more to come before the end of the year. Solloshi revisits and reinterprets everyday objects of his choosing, transforming them into true masterpieces through meticulous design and the application of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. His mission is to show his own idea of practical luxury through advanced manufacturing technologies, precision engineering, and to pour his passion into these luxurious objects.

A piece like the Solloshi Bank Card Holder requires about 8 hours to mill and another ten or so hours of hand polishing and fine-tuning and feature only the most high-tech surface treatments, such as nACo, TiNi, and DLC, depending on the metal and the final result required. A flagship piece, like the unique Cronus cigarillo holder shown above is milled from one single block of titanium, a feat we try and do with as many of our pieces as possible.

Its ridiculously extravagant design is based on the rotating Colt cylinder: the internal bearings, the legendary sound of the revolver ratchet, and the titanium bullets are all there. This six-shooter is designed to be the ultimate eye-candy and statue of power for cigarillo and cigarette smokers. Feel free to use the individual bullets as a compact and robust travel pod to preserve your delicacies no matter how rough your journey may be. The body and the bullets have been CNC machined from aerospace grade titanium and hand finished to the highest standards.

From cutting edge electric bikes through delicately designed equipment for the cigar connoisseur to painstakingly over-engineered everyday accessories, Solloshi Design is all about pouring our love for fine watches into products we feel can enrich the lives of the most demanding collectors. For us, it is all about limited production numbers, a passion for turning slabs of high-tech material into beautiful and practical objects, and true and uncompromised attention to detail. We aim to frequently update our product categories and cater to a niche market of fine watch and cigar connoisseurs. This is what we do and we hope you’ll get to see and try one of our creations hands-on. solloshi.com
