What if we told you that you can get a quality wristwatch with a remarkable design and interesting story behind it for a reasonable price? Our Plan B Edmonton timepieces can deliver all of the above. About a month ago, we successfully launched our Kickstarter campaign. Now, we’re more confident in our project than ever before, and that’s why we’ve decided to share it with aBlogtoWatch readers.

Our main goal was to create a timepiece that’s based on three fundamental ideas: neat contemporary design, functionality, and universality. The design of the Plan B Edmonton has been inspired by a study of mid-20th century European watchmaking. Our designer created every element of the dial and the case construction from scratch, using the most notable watch components of the past as a source of inspiration. The case, lugs, and back case have a rounded, streamlined shape, as does the curved glass.

The dial has a three-layered sandwich construction and adds a modern touch to the watch’s overall look. The Plan B Edmonton’s dial design employs several steel textures in different parts of the watch. The case itself has a matte surface, while the buttons and crown are polished, the hands are brushed, and the sub dials feature a sun ray pattern.

The other notable feature is that the watch is, quite literally, Plan B! We provide an additional mesh band to a canvas strap with a genuine leather lining, as well as a special tool for an easy replacement.

A couple of words about our team. The Wrist Works Company was established in 2014 by me, Quentin Trudeau, a Canadian entrepreneur with experience in sales and marketing for Swiss luxury watch companies such as Breguet, Blancpain, Longines, and Ulysse Nardin. Later, I collaborated with the promising Russian watchmaker Vikentiy Gryaznov, who had several excellent designs for luxury watch brands in his portfolio.

What I personally like in VIkentiy’s work is that his designs risk being overcomplicated and bulky at times, but he always manages to skillfully level off these qualities with a touch of grace and sophistication. It makes his watches really unique. And that was why we involved Vikentiy in the Plan B project. His most notable and well-known work is the Lunokhod watch for Konstantin Chaykin. It was designed by him and presented at Baselworld 2011. You can find more information on Vikentiy’s designs on his Behance page. We wanted to create our own timepiece with absolute universality, a vintage-inspired design, and an affordable price – the ultimate watch suitable for everyday needs. That’s when we started to work on our first watch.

We developed a great deal of experience dealing with luxury timepieces and studied their history as well as the watch industry in general. We’re extremely fond of vintage watches, of good old-fashioned classics. That became our destination for the design concept for the first series of Plan B. We searched through enormous collections of the most attractive vintage timepieces of the past, examining thousands of photographs, and whittled away all of our pencils on sketches before we came up with the final designs for the Plan B Edmonton series.

We should note here that we also unveiled our next goal recently – a special edition model of the Plan B, the Edmonton Noir. This watch offers a black steel dial with a unique black date window painted by hand. It also adds a green luminous backlight, as well as a high quality black leather strap made of soft calfskin. The planned retail price is $300. However, all early birds in our Kickstarter campaign can get their Edmonton with a 50% discount – starting from $149. planb.watch
