Prometheus Baiji Watch Giveaway

Prometheus Baiji Watch Giveaway watch giveaways

Prometheus just released their newest watch called the Baiji. The piece is meant to honor the now extinct freshwater dolphin species that was obliterated due to human intervention and pollution in their home waters in China. Baiji were incredible creatures and representative of an extremely rare class of Freshwater dolphins. There is an outline of one on the rear of the watch case. The watch itself is in steel (with a black PVD coated version) and is 43mm wide. There are various dial colors available with most having both SuperLumiNova and Tritium gas tubes on the dial. Inside the watches are Sea-Gull automatic movements which are ETA 2824 clones. Prices for the Baiji watches are between $338.94 - $440.61 depending on the model and where you live.

I enjoy the clean style of classic divers the Prometheus JellyFish is one of my favorites. The Baiji is a beautiful design , clean, modern and classy. A perfect watch design to honor the dolphin.

GREAT looking diver! I am all in, thank You (I did all that was requested)! A nice name would be "Pelican" who is also a great diver ;-) Cheers!

My Swatch Poisson Rouge (Red Fish) is the only animal themed watch in my collection.  I woudl love to add a Girard-Perregaux Hawk model to my collection.

Seahorse! Simply because they are such amazing animals. Intricate, slightly mysterious, beautiful. Just like watches.

Sea Otter!  I haven't seen it used and they rock.  They're sleek and stylish and they always seem to be happy swimming and diving....

Have wanted to own a watch with tritium on the hands.  I think a great animal for a watch to be named after would be some type of sea turtle. They have a hard case, follow regular yearly cycles. Are taught to be steady and reliable. Breathes air but lives in the water and dives.

I WANT TO THANK THE PROMETHEUS WATCH COMPANY FOR THIS SUPER BAIJI GIVEAWAY.  I AM REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THIS WATCH - THE SEA-GULL AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT - THE SUPER LUMINOVA AND LONG LASTING TRITUM GAS TUBES  ON THE DIAL -  AND THE QUICK GLANCE ABILITY NIGHT OR DAY.  I THINK IF I HAD THE ABILITY TO BUILD OR NAME A WATCH AFTER AN ANIMAL IT WOULD BE THE "BULL" FOR STRENGTH, DURABILITY, AND ABILITY TO WITHSTAND ANYTHING THAT WAS THROWN AT IT.

Love the look off the black. As far as a name I would have to go with Orca for a nice diver.

While I am thinking about it, the Prometheus watches, or at least the model shown, has a price point in line with Orient watches.

Does anyone know enough about both for a comparison between the two movements?

Very cool Watches.  If I'm honest, I hadn't heard the Prometheus name before.  but it's a nice-looking piece at a very affordable price.  Would be interesting to keep the extinct marine animal theme going.  how about the Prometheus Sea Cow (obvi a large diameter case), or the Prometheus Basilo (after the Basilosaurus)?

I dig all the Prometheus watches and would love to sport one on my arm. As for the animal name I would have to go for the legendary Roc now extinct but  whose eggs can still be found in central Madagascar. This was the bird of legend on which Sinbad the Sailor rode on its back

How about the Prometheus Hawaiian Triggerfish, T25 or T100 Tritium Tubes Classic Colors combo but using colored Superluminova to match to colors on the Triggerfish and add a ceramic or sapphire inlay bezel, slightly larger case at 45.5mm.

I would go for the “Killer whale” or “Orca”.

Anyhow, I got my baiji around 3 days ago (white dial with PVD coating). It is the first PVD coating watch I got, but I have regretted. The Stainless steel version is better, as PVD is not that durable (Scratches are very visible).

Frankly, I am quite satisfied with it. It gained around 9-10seconds in 2.5 days (this is roughly 4Sec/day), it’s well within the COSC range. It is much better than the Oris I got (Big crown: -25sec/day, 44mm Divers Titan 'C' Small Second, Date: +24sec/day… disappointing with Oris).

For the Tritium light, it glows as bright as (or even brighter) than Ball watches (deepquest) may be because of the colour of the Tritium tubes (Baiji-Green; deepquest-blue). One better thing is the SuperLumiNova, even though the light fades in less than an hour or so; it glows very bright.

Seagull movement… I have no idea how durable it is. Only time can tell.

My favorite animal for a diver watch is Sea Monster. Another name would be, Lion Beast Watch, it is always cool when the makers engrave the animal in the back of the watch.

My favorite fantasy "animal" name is the Siren - definitely a lure for sailors at sea, as the watches are to us. If it's gotta be an animal- The Dogfish. Great fish, great beer.

There are so many cool names, but I'm gonna go w/ "the Sea Turtle" ! The shape of the case combined w/the fact that they have long lives, in & out of the water. Thanks for the chance !!!

The famous Bengal tiger popularized through Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book.

This iconic animal should be immortalised in a timepiece as I can see it being worn many generations after us.

I've always felt that Panther would be a fantastic name for a sleek matt PVD black watch with yellow markers for hours and on matt gunmetal grey hands. RAWR.

I would name a watch "Komondor," as in the dog. I suppose the design would have to incorporate some cues from the dog and have some cording machined into the case. It would have to be brushed stainless or titanium for the color cues. It's basically going to be as ugly as the dog. Hollar!

Bonsaischaap
Bonsaischaap

I'm going for the AP ROO Panda. I'm guessing it's called the Panda because it's big, popular in China and incapable of reproducing. Either that, or it has something to do with the color of the dials.
