Rolex Paul Newman Tribute Daytona Watch By Black-Out Concept

Rolex Paul Newman Tribute Daytona Watch By Black Out Concept rolex

Here is some watch porn for you. Custom watch modifier Black-Out Concept USA is one of a handful of companies that can competently modify Rolex watches. Their newest mod is a limited edition called the Paul Newman Tribute Daytona. Based on a modern steel Rolex Daytona Cosmograph, BOC coats the case with DLC black and customizes the dial to look like one of the famous Paul Newman Daytona watches. I think it looks pretty sweet looking - and Black-Out Concept did a nice job making it Newmanish. Don't forget that original Paul Newman Daytonas are very expensive (and much smaller in size that this one). Price for this limited edition Paul Newman Tribute Daytona watch is $23,000. If you want one or more info contact BOC at the link above or call (857) 204-0837. Don't forget that Black-Out Concept has no relationship with Rolex.

Having "blackout" on the dial doesn't really fit the watch, considering that it's not "blacked out". Looks like more white on the dial than anything else. I get there are scads of Newman fans out there, but as such there are countless "Newman" watches, from the horribly cheap up to the no-longer-a-Rolex Rolex's. So you don't need to spend $25k on a watch you can never get officially serviced. This should have been a "Newman's own" and come with your choice of salad dressing.

Rolex isn't ALLOWING this. Rolex doesn't support this (at least openly). They simply can't stop it. Send one of these watches in for servicing to Rolex and they will send it right back to you. Why anyone would pay $23,000 for an $11,000 watch is beyond me. If you have that extra money just lying around to waste on an overpriced modified watch, why not do some good in the world? That or spend the $23,000 and get yourself any number of other branded watches (entry level Patek perhaps?).

A $23K watch and the seconds hand does not line up with the 12 hour marker? I do like the concept and I'm glad Rolex is allowing some other designs but I think it looks cheap. Next, the all ceramic Daytona in white.

I like this, but i don't know if it's the photography but this looks less finished than say a similar effort from Project X or even Bamford.

Soooooo, it's an actual Rolex that is made to look like a fake Rolex Newman Daytona? These Rolex modifiers are really working hard to be sure that Rolex goes completely to the dark side of horology and make it even more a watch for posers. High-rolling posers, maybe, but still posers. I'll stick to GP, AP, and (someday) F.P., thank you very much.
