Did you know that in a store deep in the streets of Hong Kong is a Rolex Oysterdate watch with a pot leaf dial? Whether or not it is aftermarket or authentic, it does exist. John and I are almost officially Rolex fans at this point and we discuss our current feelings about the brand. Omega gets some love as we discuss the Seamaster Aqua Terra 15,000 Gauss with its highly anti-magnetic movement.

The newest addition to the highly functional ProTrek family is the PRW3000 and it is a jewel with no jewels. As a mechanical watch aficionado I tend not to wear quartz watches… maybe it’s snobbish of me or simply realizing that with limited time in each day, I just want to have something on my wrist that I appreciate and I find has soul. However, since I am also an active and practical person, I also make three exceptions to this rule: Garmin sports watches; Swatch watches; and Casio watches…
Not long after the introduction of their latest ProTrek flagship, the PRW3000, Casio has announced a new entry-level model that also features the updated Triple Sensor V3 technology.
Until the 1950s, the wristwatch world was powered by springs… Winding one’s watch was part of daily routine, as was adjusting it regularly to keep it accurate. But 1957 heralded change and the beginnings of a revolution that would fully materialize in the 1970s and 80s, and it all started with the futuristic-sounding, electric watch…
Along with a host of other watches Casio releases the Lightning Yellow collection for the 30th Anniversary of G-Shock. As they say, they intended to capture the ‘G-Shock toughness’ in this shockingly vivid color, and that ‘this collection seamlessly combines the legendary shock resistant structure with high performance functionality.’
John discusses a Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk watch he is reviewing and I discuss a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms that I am reviewing. Which is the better watch? Then we proceed to get into the dirty details of smartwatches and the potential failings of Bluetooth. Of course Casio is about to come out with new Bluetooth watches that may just have us eating our words.
Announced just recently at G-Shock’s ‘Shock The World’ event in New York, this new piece is dedicated to Eminem (who performed at the event) and is officially called the GDX6900MNM-1. It is now part of the ‘newly-revamped’ XL-6900 family – an almost 10% bigger, enhanced version of the very popular 6900 series
Casio has announced a new addition to their Master of G collection, the GW9400 Rangeman. Essentially a step up from a Mudman or GW9200 Riseman, the Rangeman employs a similar case design but incorporates most of the features normally associated with the Pro Trek series.
Keeping with their tradition of going over the top, Casio announced not one or two – but almost a dozen new lines, models, and special editions. Also teased were new “Ultimate G-Shock” models coming in the next year: the Ultimate Iceman; Ultimate Heatman; and Ultimate Frogman. We will go into more detail with each in the near future, but for now, here’s a quick overview of new highlights from G-Shock.
Among the traditional watch makers now delving into the world of Bluetooth-enabled smartwatches, Casio has produced rather solid products thus far. In 2011, Casio released the G-Shock GB-6900 collection (debuted by aBlogtoWatch here), which marked a new strategy for the maker of the world’s arguably most versatile watches.
Because Casio didn’t think that making a watch with a breathalyzer was enough, it needed to make one in collaboration with a Vodka maker. Yes, it is true, the irony of the Ciroc X G-Shock watch is that the timepiece is there to prevent you from drinking too much of what Ciroc produces.
It makes us happy to see Casio continually improving its G-Shock collection of watches, and in this review we take a look at the Aviation GW-A1000 (GWA1000-1A).
Casio has been busy updating some of their most popular lines and we are seeing that work come to fruition when looking at all their Baselworld 2013 releases. Welcome in the great-looking Edifice EQW-A1200 timepiece family. Not only are the G-Shocks getting new editions, so too, are the Pro Trek watches we’ve covered and the Edifice…
The good news is that new watches in 2013 are better than ever, and take it from people who’ve seen the watches. Top 10 lists are great, but a few we’ve seen are written by people who haven’t even seen the products…
The Casio PRO TREK PRW-3000 for 2013 has been announced, and let me tell you why I am particularly interested. In a nutshell Casio has released a smaller, sleek looking, very capable PRO TREK watch with improved sensors (at a reasonable price).
It’s Baselworld, the time of genuinely fascinating new watch releases, and Casio does not want to disappoint. New models in the Gravity Defier series have been announced: they are heavily loaded with technology and are built to resist such centrifugal forces only fighter pilots could submit them to…
