In the fourth edition of our bi-weekly roundup, we check out a rare George Daniels chronograph watch, interview Hublot’s Jean-Claude Biver, check out some new Panerais and visit Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

I don’t miss a chance to spend time with Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot, and honorary godfather of the modern luxury watch industry. While we do spend time talking about new Hublot watches and some of the interest things that happened at the Baselworld 2013 watch show.
In the third edition of our bi-weekly roundup, we take a look at the some of my favorite watches from Baselworld 2013, which includes Hublot, Patek Philippe and Tag Heur. We also check out an interview with Laurent Picciotto of Chronopassion and find out how one can share his/her love of watches with their partners.
After Baselworld 2013 day 1 James, Mark, and myself sit around the kitchen table at the Basel apartment to recap on the day and discuss Rolex, Patek, and more from home base at watchpocalypse 2013.
It is just like a Ferrari to one-up someone. Hublot’s relationship with Ferrari continues with vigor into 2013 with the introduction of the intensely engineered Masterpiece MP-05 LaFerrari watch. With 50 days (days!) of power reserve this timepiece is record setting, and it also has a tourbillon.
When I checked a few days ago I learned that Kobe Bryant has over 15 million fans on his Facebook page. That is a ton of people that Hublot just earned access to in their recent acquisition of Mr. Bryant as their newest mega-popular athlete brand ambassador.
80s loving Europeans (and well, me too) love them some Depeche Mode musical entertainment. Hublot certainly does. Back in 2102 the Swiss brand worked with Depeche Mode to create a limited edition of 12 Big Bang watches each with unique Depeche Mode albums covers (debuted here).
Last year we were the first to bring you coverage of the new Big Bang Ferrari watches from Hublot (here). The Ferrari/Hublot relationship was a big deal and over the last year I’ve learned just how big of a deal it is for Hublot.
This is the Hublot watch for people who don’t traditionally like Hublot. It is in the Classic Fusion collection and has a skeletonized tourbillon movement. To be honest, I sort of get a sense of glee when I post a picture of an Hublot watch on my wrist, share it on Instagram (aBlogtoWatch), and people battle on whether it is wonderful or hideous in the comments.
Jean-Claude Biver is a living legend in the watch industry. If you are someone in the industry you either admire him, are jealous of him, or perhaps dislike him.
“Yes, you’re always going to get gold diggers,” he shrugs, adjusting the strap on his Cartier. “But that’s the risk you take.” This quote ends a rather interesting cultural piece in the New York Post that recently discussed how men in New York buy and wear watches to impress the ladies. “Meet the Rolex Romeos” profiles a selection of disparate guys who each feel that an expensive watch is the best way to lure in the gals.
Big news in the watch world today as Rolex has been announced as the long-term Official Timekeeper for Formula 1 racing, effective as of the 2013 season. Being both the Official Timekeeper and Official Timepieces of Formula 1 is no small achievement…
Not to be outdone by Audemars Piguet and their claims to Formula 1 racing, Hublot has announced the F1 King Power Austin as a tribute to the United States Grand Prix which will be held Austin, Texas this November (of 2012). Hublot is also the official watch maker of the F1 series.
I was with Hublot in Las Vegas for a very atypical watch event. A merging of two extremely different worlds coming together for fun, publicity, and the pursuit of mutual goals.
Not much can beat a warm day, a nice new watch and a good camera! We don’t get too many of the first part in London, so when the temperature reaches anywhere over 20 degrees Celsius it’s best to take advantage of it!
Hublot debuted this watch in Shanghai during a public charity event where Mr. Maradona himself kicked a soccer ball to raise money for kids. If only it was that simple. Why the legendary Argentinian soccer (ahem, I mean “football”) player went to China for Hublot and his own watch is probably an amusing story. Suffice [...]
