Earlier this week, Patek Philippe announced that they have produced a follow up to their most complicated watch ever, the ref 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. The new Sky Moon Tourbillon model, reference 6002G, offers a more elaborated packaging of the 13 complications included in the reference 5002 Sky Moon.
The Only Watch 2013 charity watch auction which occurs every other year in Monaco is coming up in September of 2013. aBlogtoWatch has created a full list (that we will update as more watches for the auction are released) of all the piece unique (one-of-a-kind) timepieces that will be offered at the event.
When I hear the name “Calatrava” I think of Patek Philippe, and when I think about Patek Philippe I think about tradition. Tradition in the sense of a watch means a lot of things. It usually implies timeless design, and often a retention of values that your father or grandfather would have probably recognized.
The aBlogtoWatch team has made dressing up that much easier (and costlier) with our list of the top 10 elegant dress watches. In life, we usually avoid complications, in a dress watch as well, the less the better, a simple uncluttered dial is one of the timeless qualities that a dress watch should fulfill. The focus should ideally be on the essence of a watch…
For the Only Watch 2013 charity auction, Patek Philippe has produced a one-of-a-kind version of the discontinued ref. 5004 in titanium called the 5004T. While Patek Philippe has produced titanium watches in the past, they are exceedingly rare and none that I can find have been produced as part of an series.
In the third edition of our bi-weekly roundup, we take a look at the some of my favorite watches from Baselworld 2013, which includes Hublot, Patek Philippe and Tag Heur. We also check out an interview with Laurent Picciotto of Chronopassion and find out how one can share his/her love of watches with their partners.
After Baselworld 2013 day 1 James, Mark, and myself sit around the kitchen table at the Basel apartment to recap on the day and discuss Rolex, Patek, and more from home base at watchpocalypse 2013.
With the 2013 movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby book being released shortly, we wanted to take a look at some of the best wrist watches from the roaring 20s. The 1920s, in a sense, was the first real decade of the wrist watch. It was when both men and women started to adapt wrist watches over pocket watches. Some of the best brands that make watches today were around back then…
The good news is that new watches in 2013 are better than ever, and take it from people who’ve seen the watches. Top 10 lists are great, but a few we’ve seen are written by people who haven’t even seen the products…
We check out Bell & Ross’ new aviation-themed watches, Ressence’s new Type 3 watch, find out how the HYT H1 movement works and more.

These days Ball watches are an easy buy. Well-made mechanical Swiss watches that tend to fit the bill nicely and their prices are more fair than inflated. Ubiquitous tritium gas tube illumination ain’t bad either. Ball’s core design ethos is split between original designs al la Engineer Hydrocarbon creations as well as faithful homages.
“Yes, you’re always going to get gold diggers,” he shrugs, adjusting the strap on his Cartier. “But that’s the risk you take.” This quote ends a rather interesting cultural piece in the New York Post that recently discussed how men in New York buy and wear watches to impress the ladies. “Meet the Rolex Romeos” profiles a selection of disparate guys who each feel that an expensive watch is the best way to lure in the gals.
When Patek Philippe started to release white-dialed versions of their popular Nautilus model I was intrigued. It was a very fresh color for their sport line, and while it wasn’t a radical difference, it isn’t something we’ve seen in this collection before.
John and I go back and forth jesting on Memorigin’s Batman tourbillon watch. We also talk about the new Maison Patek Philippe in China, as well as what real Chinese watch tastes actually are. Last, you get to hear more about the new aBlogtoWatch website and all the blood, sweat, and tears behind it.
