Watch What If: Hamilton Ventura XXL watch what if

"Watch What-If" is a special column on aBlogtoRead.com that asks the playful question "what if an iconic watch you know and love was offered in a different style?" The idea embraces a good timepiece's core design and has fun by offering new colors and material concepts to stimulate your senses. These ideas may be provocative, artistic, or just plain silly. This is about fun, Photoshop, and the celebration of wrist watch design and experimentation. The original design we work off of will always be at the bottom of the article. The designs are brought to life by Beau Hudspeth who does the artwork and concepting after he and I choose the models and styles to focus on. These "special design experiments" are extremely time consuming and labor intensive but we hope you enjoy the results. Ideas and comments are more than welcome. Enough response may even lead to a round two of design of the same watch - so please comment below. You are also encouraged to suggest the watches that should make it into the Watch What-If section here on aBlogtoRead.com.

Has the watch-what-if died? It seems it's been more than a year since this most recent one. I really like the idea and it's a unique feature for ABTW. I also like some of the design ideas.

I would like to see one for the AP Royal Oak. What if there was a Royal Oak-shaped watch with a 5 yen Japanese coin as the face with the hands sticking through the square hole in the center and a slight gap at the edge of the coin revealing the movement skeletonized below. That would be cool. Maybe.

All are very nicely done.  Love the 'Circuit' version- I would make the Hamilton name white, and maybe add hour markers.  You could probably get half the Silicon Valley guys to buy them.  Also loving the 'Hippy'-  but it really needs to be named the 'Vertigo,' it instantly reminded me of the movie.  Maybe try it with the dark case for more contrast?  The dark version is also way cool, but I think the most popular would be the skeletonized.  Now that I think of it, the original with a dark case would also look great.  Anyway, good ideas on all of these.

@Kris C I agree on the name. It was a working title that fit when I started that version. The look of the watch changed but the name, and there with it, the filename remained even after the look became less 'hippie'.
