According to Timex, this Giorgio Galli S2Ti will be the final watch produced as part of the Timex Giorgio Galli “S” collection. Giorgio Galli is the talented Creative Director of the Timex Group, and even though he has been designing watches for more than three decades, the Giorgio Galli S watch series is the only one ever to be produced with his name on it (in addition to the Timex brand name, of course). Giorgio crafted the S series around watches he likes and wants to wear himself.  Galli is also both a design professional and someone with an Italian upbringing who is heavily inspired by personal passions, including travel, architecture, and photography.

The Giorgio Galli S timepiece product series journey started back in 2019 with the launch of the Timex Giorgio Galli S1. Timex produced a few versions of the S1, including a sized-down 38mm-wide model (down from 41mm) and also a version with a gold-tone case in 2022. The original S1 design had a dial feature that I personally recommended to Mr. Galli — the set ruby in the central part of the dial. It really made a difference, and the S1 collection was a hit even though it represented the most expensive Timex-branded models to that point. Still under $1,000 in price, the Giorgio Galli S watch family wasn’t just about design but also about using advanced materials, manufacturing techniques, and fresh features at still-affordable price points. So, while the Timex Giorgio Galli products were expensive compared to most other Timex watches, they represented a very good deal to the watch enthusiast audience Mr. Galli intended the watches for.

By 2023, the original S1 design had been retired, with the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 model having been launched. Galli maintained the 38mm-wide case size —proportions he likes very much for the S series — and introduced an entirely new dial while upgrading the movement to a Swiss Made automatic produced by Sellita. The debut S2 featured a case that blended both steel and titanium components while introducing a new classy dial likely inspired by Galli’s love of cameras. Now, for 2025, Timex has unveiled the final limited-edition model of the larger Giorgio Galli S1 and S2 series known as the Timex Giorgio Galli S2Ti. This 500-piece set is truly lovely but comes in at double the price of the first Timex S2, and more than four times the price of the original $450 Timex Giorgio Galli S1 watch from 2019. Is the S2 Ti worth it? By comparison to other watches? Totally.

Above all else, the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti watch is objectively beautiful. Sure, you might not like this case size or feel as passionate about the color gray, but Mr. Galli does so much well with this design that it is hard to criticize it on its merits. Do you want to know the only complaint I could really think of after evaluating this watch on my wrist for a while? That it requires just a little bit too much torque to turn the crown and wind the movement. That is really all I could come up with, and it is a minor point, anyway, since this is an automatic watch and hand-winding is not something you’ll need to do very often.

One of the most impressive parts of the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti is the dial concept. While it appears simple and minimalist at a glance, it is anything but. Galli masterfully uses shapes, textures, and space to create a timelessly attractive and also legible dress-style watch dial. Ordinarily, all-polished hands like this would be a legibility nightmare. But when placed against a totally matte face and and surrounded by a ring with markers on it, the contrast effect of polished surfaces against matte surfaces creates both legibility and a bit of sparkle for your eyes to enjoy. This is further refined by the curved design of the peripheral walls around the dial, as well as the box-style sapphire crystal which wraps around the entire case and also serves as the bezel. This style of crystal and bezel-less structure of the case also makes the case feel larger. 38mm-wide watches with wide bezels often result in small dials that make the watch look small. Here, almost all of the 38mm-wide case seems to go into the dial, which results in a comfortable watch that does not appear proportionally small when on the wrist.

Gray colors not only go with nearly all colors in a clothing wardrobe, but they are perfect to celebrate titanium, whose natural color is a slightly deeper gray than stainless steel. The Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti watch has a case that is mostly titanium, along with a new matching bracelet. The middle part of the case is a textured black carbon composite. Not only does this central ring help further reduce the weight of this already light watch, but it also creates further color contrast to make the watch visually interesting. The middle section of the case in black also helps break up the height of the case, making it visually appear thinner even though this is not an ultra-thin case by measurement standards (about 12mm thick). Again, the main titanium case is 38mm wide, with a modest 46mm long lug-to-lug distance and 18mm-wide lugs. The S2 Ti case is water-resistant to 50 meters.

Since the original Timex Giorgio Galli S1, the design of the case features some skeletonization elements such as the lugs. This continues with a new design element on the sides of the bracelet where the links have a cut-away indentation that is pretty hip-looking, to be honest. In fact, a major reason why the S2 Ti costs more than the original S2 is because of the addition of the bracelet (which is placed on quick-release spring bars so that you can remove it and put on an 18mm wide strap if you choose). The titanium bracelet features a new functional element in the form of “I-Size” links which can be removed without tools. This is one of the easiest bracelets to size that I’ve ever experienced, and it works because one side of the link has a small spring inside that holds it closed. Pull on the side and you can detach it and pivot it, allowing for the link to easily slide off. Without even using any instructions, I was able to intuit how the bracelet works and to have it sized properly for my wrist in just a few minutes. That’s one of my major compliments about the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti — it is idiot-proof. Even though it is very much an enthusiast’s watch, the overall concept and resulting product are so approachable and intuitive that pretty much anyone can understand it and use it immediately.

Mr. Galli wanted the bracelet to have as minimalist a look as possible, so the butterfly-style deployant locks using tension via a very discreet mechanism. From the bottom of the bracelet, you aren’t supposed to see any visual sign of a buckle or interference from the bracelet’s link design. I think it works pretty well, especially at this price point. I am not even normally into a 38mm-wide watch (I typically prefer larger timepieces), but I truly adore the S2 Ti design, and while it isn’t a large watch, I don’t visually feel like it is small, either.

The Timex Giorgio Galli S2 collection introduced a Swiss Made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement to the series – replacing the Japanese Miyota 9000 series used in the S1. The Swiss mechanical movement operates at 4Hz with about two days of power reserve – and is handsomely decorated for use in this watch. Timex uses a custom black-colored automatic rotor, and the complete movement can be viewed through the S2 Ti’s sapphire caseback window. I want to compliment the use of descriptive text on both the caseback and dial to help people understand this watch better. In small text, Timex even puts Giorgio Galli’s and the watch model name on the dial, which will help timepiece enthusiasts in the future who discover these watches to better identify what they are looking at. The overall amount of design refinement as well as understanding the mentality of watch enthusiasts around the world are what helps make the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti such a successful product in my opinion. It isn’t clear what Mr. Galli will do next with his name on it at Timex, but I doubt that he is finished with “making watches for himself” in addition to all the other Timex and Timex Group private label watches and styles he manages.

If you don’t understand most of this context and what makes this beautiful watch also interesting, then it can seem like a nearly $2,000 Timex is quite a bit of money. If you compare the Timex Giorgio Galli S2 Ti to other enthusiast watches on the market, then this practical and pretty modern watch looks like a pretty good value. It is really about perspective, and I am very happy that Timex continues to focus on interesting objects like this. The Timex Giorgio Galli S2Ti TW2Y27500 titanium watch will be produced as a limited edition of 500 pieces with a retail price of $1,950 USD. Learn more at the Timex website.
