Running now through December 2nd at their SoHo store in New York City, Watches Of Switzerland is exhibiting their ‘Sneaker Time’ show in partnership with Stadium Goods. There are fifteen watch and sneaker pairings being shown on the lower level of the store located at 60 Greene Street including brands like Vacheron Constantin, Grand Seiko, and Ulysse Nardin matched with Adidas, Nike, and Balenciaga.

Hublot Big Bang UNICO King White Ceramic & Kanye West X Louis Vuitton Jas “Patchwork”

IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Rodeo Drive” & Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black”

Some of the fifteen watch and sneaker combos are quite natural, like the Breitling Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Curtiss Warhawk and the Nike Air Max “Warhawk” 90. As made clear by their names, these are both inspired by the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter plane from WWII. The HYT SOONOW and Nike Air FoamPosite One “ParaNorman” pairing isn’t as clear cut. The rare shoe was released in 2012 and limited to 800 pieces, while the HYT SOONOW recently was announced and is even more limited at 5 pieces produced. The green flames on the shoe plays well with the green and blue fluid filled “capillaries” on the HYT, so the two connect even though they were introduced seven years apart.

There’s a huge overlap in watch collecting with other hobbies. Cars, for example, have a legendary overlap with watches when it comes to sheer enthusiasm. The collector mentality behind watch enthusiasm definitely mirrors that of sneakers for a newer generation of collectors.

Ulysse Nardin Freak X Black Marquetry & Balenciaga Track.2

Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th & Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Limited Edition & Fragment Design X Nike Air Jordan I

One of the most fascinating watch and sneaker pairings is the Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th & Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Limited Edition watch and the Fragment Design X Nike Air Jordan I done with Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment Design. It’s not simply an aesthetic match with the “Bayside blue” and white colors, but both put the spotlight on Japanese design and its impact across various categories.
