On the first of October in 2015, I launched William L. 1985 on Kickstarter and just 4 weeks later, 1,200 watches were sold and the project reached funding at €191,961. Now William L. 1985 is distributed in more than 50 countries and 600 points of sale all around the world. Nothing would have been possible without this Kickstarter project and that’s why I decided to introduce my brand new projects on Kickstarter. Today I present the William L. 1985 Automatic Chronograph & Connected watches.

Indeed, I took a close look at smartwatch offerings and I did not find any watch that fit my tastes in terms of design, features, autonomy, and price. That’s why I decided to develop a beautiful selection of connected watches with 18 months of battery life. These timepieces are coherent with the watchmaking DNA that I like: double domed glass, dauphine hands, and brushed and polished 316L stainless steel cases. This release is, as the whole William L. 1985 collection, functional and affordable, starting at €99 on Kickstarter.

Regarding the automatic chronograph collection, it was something several backers requested since the first project launched. The objectives were to keep the William L. 1985 design, an affordable price, a high level of quality with sapphire glass on both sides, and an accurate and reliable movement within a reasonable diameter (41mm). That’s why it took a long time to reach the balance that we desired and it was worth the wait.

We finally chose to use a Seiko NE88 automatic movement and we are working directly with Seiko on this project. As a result, they will be launching a special production for us. Now I am proud that this Automatic Chronograph will be the most affordable on the market – €699 will be the final retail price and the early bird pricing starts at €499 on Kickstarter. This Kickstarter edition is limited to 999 pieces.
