The team behind Arcaido brings over 30 years of watchmaking experience to the bench to create a high-quality product at an affordable price. A family history of goldsmithing and working as an intermediary for other watchmaking companies paved the way for the people behind the brand to branch out into design, using the knowledge and contacts garnered over years of practical involvement with the creative process to bring to life the dream of Arcaido.

Arcaido is now headed by Alberto Tonon, whose father founded the company that gave rise to this new brand. Taking the same pride in his brand’s work as his father did in his is central to the Arcaido mission — to produce a Swiss-made product of the highest possible quality, conceived with the customer in mind, and constructed from the finest components. By blending Swiss-made movements with an Italian flair, Arcaido hopes to appeal to lovers of traditional watchmaking looking for something a little different.

One particular point of difference for Arcaido is the importance of individuality. Just as the brand prides itself on being distinctive, so too does it place stock in the individuality of its customers and their desire to express that through the timepieces they wear. As such, all Arcaido timepieces can be customized. Personal decorations can be added to the watch face.

And these are far from simple customizations — a whole gamut of colors is available for the single-color design, which can be as creative as the customer’s imagination allows. Following the completion of its Kickstarter campaign, Arcaido will work with every customer to bring their vision to life. Monograms, logos, and even signatures can be incorporated into the design, with the brand happy to remove the standardized printing at 6 o’clock to make more space for the customer’s chosen addition.

The option to customize the dial is available on both the three-handed and GMT versions. Both models are housed in a 42.5mm case made from CuSn6 bronze. A mixture of brushed and polished surfaces bring the solid, 14.5mm-thick housing to life. The watch’s appearance can be further modified by the removable end links, which significantly change the watch head’s silhouette.

With a water resistance of 300m, a matt ceramic bezel, and a scratch-proof sapphire, these watches, powered by Sellita “Spécial Elaboré” grade movements are ready for anything. The ceramic of the bezel is mirrored by a screw-down crown topped with a ceramic insert of its own, while the threaded caseback (made from 316L stainless steel) features a sapphire display window that shows off the custom rotor and fine movement finishing. Applied indices add depth to a highly legible dial, which has been treated with C1 Super-LumiNova.

Both watches are available on either a padded leather strap (in either antelope Kudu, patinated leather, or crocodile) or a rubber band with an original pattern on the underside. All straps are fitted with bronze hardware to complete the look on both sides of the wrist. The Kickstarter campaign for Arcaido is already running, having surpassed 300% of its original target at the time of writing. The campaign will run until 2:55 PM CET Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Prices start at €432 for the three-hander €573 for the GMT, with various packaging options changing the pledge amount required. To learn more, check out arcaido.com.
