EXPERIENCE & WATCHES GIVEAWAY: Visit Hong Kong To Make A One-Of-A-Kind Undone Watch Giveaways

aBlogtoWatch and Undone invite one lucky watch enthusiast to visit an epicenter for watch love and consumption. Hong Kong is both a leading watch shopping destination as well as the home of contemporary, yet cool and accessibly-priced watchmakers like Undone. Anyone who considers themselves a serious watch collector needs to visit Hong Kong at least once, and this is an opportunity to enjoy one of Asia's most dynamic and fast-paced cities (with watch stores located at practically each major intersection).

The grand prize winner will enjoy four days in Hong Kong with Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch, with the goal of seeing the city, visiting the Undone headquarters, and also getting the opportunity to create their own, one-of-a-kind personalized watch that Undone will never create again.

EXPERIENCE & WATCHES GIVEAWAY: Visit Hong Kong To Make A One-Of-A-Kind Undone Watch Giveaways

Our goal is to offer the winner the enjoyable experience of making a watch that is meant to remind them of a special time in their life. It isn't every day that you get to go on a trip, and then have a watch specifically designed to remind you of that trip – let alone with aBlogtoWatch. Once a winner is chosen, the specific dates for the trip will be selected, with the intended schedule to be in Spring or Summer of 2018.

To spread the seasonal love even further, four second prize winners this month will receive their choice of customizable Undone Urban Chronograph timepieces – with a special code that will allow them to order the model they like via the Undone website. That makes for a total of five potential giveaway winners this month on aBlogtoWatch.

I’d probably go for an hour marker in a subtly different design to permanently mark the time difference to Hong Kong – that incorporates both time and place.

    • Yina emma

I’ll combine pictures i took from tourist centers on my last trip to london and use it as a wallpaper/background for the watch.

  • Mikita

I vote for Marius. He’s our expert and deserves the honor to make one of a kind bespoke Undone watch in memory of Pete Pete’s account here.

    • Sheez Gagoo

What happened to pete pete? Why has he been deleted? I would eat weird stuff in Hong Kong by the way.

      • Mikita

Unfortunately, I don’t know. Some say he got blocked – but why?
I need only 1 hour to go to Hong Kong 🙂 currently, I stay in Shenzhen. They even have the metro connection.

        • Berndt Norten

I imagine Pete Pete removed his account himself. Also, I’m sure he had multiple identities and he lives on

          • Mikita

Actually, now I know that all 4 brothers horsemen of the watchapocalypse are here 🙂 and you must know who is who 🙂

    • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I hope a regular wins this contest and not some 3-comment interloper.

      • Don Wrigley

It just has to be Marius. Everything else would be a disgrace. Marius, start packing! You`re going to Hong Kong!

        • Terance Hill

If he wins Hong Kong will never be the same. After the second day the streets would be littered with ladyboys panting totally played out. And my God the watch he would design would break on Dunns Bank!

      • Mikita

Me too! But we are just a particle in the sea.

        • Solloshi B. Hawkins

If I win I want to meet my Belarusian Brother. Half of the Horsemen, assemble!

          • Mikita

Half of all Horsemen! Not bad for the first assemble, eh? Then I hope you win, for me no problem to gallop to HK 🙂

        • Berndt Norten

          Dust in the wind
          All we are is dust
          In the wind
          Of a hundred days

          • Mikita

Yes, one of my favorite songs! 🙂

  • Ivan

I like the idea of Undone watches, but I wish they have another collection with thicker but shorter lugs. The current Urban has lugs which do not hug the wrist as well as too long. Looking forward to the next iteration.

    • Berndt Norten

Boy that’s the way to suck up

  • Wa Tch Brotherss

I would like to visit Undone with Ariel, but I am already living in Hong kong.LOL

    • Berndt Norten

So what’s the point in telling us?

  • IanE

A particularly generous offering to mark the Season! I would opt, if possible, for an engraving with trip dates to mark the watch as special.

    • Berndt Norten

I thought you were better than that. You’re a regular on this site. You don’t belong with these clowns

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Take it easy on Ian. He’s a good guy.

        • Berndt Norten

          Good night, John Boy

      • IanE

Nah, I’m up for a free trip to Hong Kong any day!

  • Robert

I would look at incorporating a small encapsulated area on the watch face with a glass cover near the nine o’clock hour. In this, I would put a few grains of sand or dirt. The dirt would be visible on the watch face and would act as a reminder for the person to pause and hopefully remember the good times on the trip. The dirt could be from a place that you cherish, either from a great memory (the hill where you were engaged) or from a significant location (the Old City of Jerusalem).

    • Berndt Norten

      That’s just silly.

  • Zoran Filipovic

Fabulous giveaway, engraving with trip dates to mark the watch.

  • I would incorporate a travel memory on the face of the watch, something stylish and elegant and meaningful to me. My favourite country that I’ve travelled to is Italy. So if I had to incorporate Italy into a watch, I’d engrave a small, simple drawing of the Colosseum on the face of the watch.

    • Berndt Norten

How simple could it be? Have some respect for dem Romans

  • Jose

What a great idea! Hong Kong and watches! If I had to incorporate a design to a watch I would choose the HK skyline (at night). Great idea Undone and good luck to everyone.

    • Berndt Norten

      Luck is for rabbits.

  • Martin

Interesting idea. Because it would be fairly hard (expensive) to incorporate a photo memory in a watch design, I would personalize my watch with a simple reminder: day, date, year, place info on a backside of the watch. It would remind me when I got the watch and where.

    • Berndt Norten

      That’s original.

      • Martin

We ll se what will be their choice ?

  • Equity

Keep going your good stuff !

    • Berndt Norten

      I will

  • Linus Masimov

I would love to take a piece of rock from the place I visited, cut a thin slice and use it as dial.

    • Berndt Norten

Get sharpening! We’ve got out Vanilla Slice here

  • Gin Tub

I already have 2 undone watches and love them both and with the endless possibilities of design they are probably pretty unique but to create a one off that is never made again would be a fantastic prize. my watch would have ABTW on the dial with Hong Kong edition in red under that

    • Berndt Norten

And you admit it? You’re being greedy. Let some other beggar have the watch

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

And I will be that beggar, for once.

        • Berndt Norten

          If you wannabe that beggar
          Gotta get with my friends

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Wrist Trim Spice, Hungary Spice, …

  • Mark Mason

For the customisation I’d start with a red dial like the Undone Mystique Mars watch and subtly customise it by replacing the nine hour marker with the Chinese for nine (/ ?) and place a small star on the short end of the second hand (similar but smaller to MontBlanc), both to reflect the Hong Kong visit. The star and the red dial also resemble the HK flag.

    • Berndt Norten

Wow. You’re the first one to speak in concrete terms. I admire that. Too bad it’s not in the service of a good cause.

  • JosephWelke

A deep red dial with a lumed(?) Hong Kong orchid in the center. Dates of the trip engraved in back, along with Ariel’s signature. ‘Cause why not?

    • Berndt Norten

Ariel’s signature?, ! Why not ask for SYCOPHANT to be engraved instead?

  • Yan Fin

First of all, as it was commented before, I really like the dials. All of them, really hard to pick favorite. Still waiting for Undone to use some mechanical movement. As a trip memory I would put the city name on the dial.

    • Berndt Norten

      Yan, how could you?

  • Hello I think I may incorporate the HK flag on the dial or caseback and or the HK skyline as well.

    • Berndt Norten

And maybe a syringe in honour of Lance A?

  • mark

The watches are beautiful timepieces, if given the chance to own one or go to Hong Kong to see the factory, and have a small amount of input on the watch really would be fantastic.

  • WK Ng

    The colored dials are beautiful!

    • Berndt Norten

      Hadn’t noticed! Thanks!

  • WImads

Very cool giveaway! To personalize a watch for a trip, I’d probably chose some custom caseback design, with a design inspired by local cultural heritage. Especially china has a rich heritage when it comes to artistic expression. A chinese lion or dragon might make a cool caseback design.

    • Berndt Norten

Or an image of the Great Helmsman?

  • Andreas

Undone fume dials are simply awesome. To incorporate a message I’d rather have the strap stamped with ‘Hongkong Undone Special’ unless it is possible to have the same engraved on the case side or back.

    • Berndt Norten

      Would it really matter?

  • Derek Schey

Undone are beautiful watches. Sleek modern and they do it with gumption! It would be a memory to last a lifetime.

    • Berndt Norten

      Good grief

  • Michael Lojko

Hello, I think this may be difficult to achieve, but I would like to incorporate a found object from the trip into the dial. For example, make the dial face from a cobblestone which I picked up in Rome, or mother of pearl from a shell I picked up in Newfoundland. Another idea would be to use metal from an aircraft crash site I hiked to for the markers or hands…

    • Berndt Norten

How bout an old band-aid from the time you cut yourself with a watchmaking tool?

      • Michael Lojko

It has to be related to a trip Berndt… so maybe we can oxidize the hands with my vomit from that one time in Vegas.

        • Berndt Norten

Like David Hasselhoff eating his burger , drunk in the bathroom floor? Or more Nicky Cage style?

  • Tim

I would go with a green sunburst style dial in memory of my favorite trip, which was to the Smokey Mountains in TN, USA. The trees and mountains were so beautiful.

    • Berndt Norten

Might some people think you were paying tribute to the Adirondacks? How could you prevent that?

  • Steve M

What a great idea especially at this time of year. My preference would be to have a custom Dial representing the occasion coupled with a caseback also customized to tell my story of the trip. I all ready can picture mine.

    • Berndt Norten

      Tell us more!

  • Jeff Story

I’d like to have an engraving of an image from the trip ghosted onto the dial or caseback, or a picture of those who went on the trip inserted into a crystal back case.

    • Berndt Norten

      That’s Jeff’s Story
      And he’s sticking to it

  • Berndt Norten

I’d like to undesign many a ‘bespoke’ product, starting with Solloshi

  • wmoconnell

This would be the trip of a lifetime. Thinking the back would have a globe with markers on all the countries I have been to which would make it a excellent memory piece.

  • Adi Lungu

What a great giveaway. That fume dial is yummy!

  • Cody Nelson

If I were trying to embody my experience in a watch I think starting with the dial and hands/markers would be the first step. Maybe there’s a specific color that you see during your travels that pull at your senses or sharp lines that could be incorporated into the hands and markers.

  • Thunder Thief

A lot of design is packed into the most populace City in the US and most expensive real estate on the planet. Likewise, the magnatude of a time piece made to honour a place memorable for its architecture, fashion and fast pace will have no expense spared. It would need to be strong to be named after the Empire State and waterproof to enjoy its coastline and one of the largest harbours in the world. A chronograph to keep track of the fast pace of Time Square – Everything can happen in a New York Minute – with bright backlights and loud alarms to cut through the constant resonance that is Manhattan.

    • Berndt Norten

      Populous.

      • Thunder Thief

        Fixed 🙂

        • Berndt Norten

Thanks. It’s in the name of science.

  • knightracer

Each trip is made better with a new watch.

    • Berndt Norten

Oxford Book of Quotations–make room for this one

  • Dave Patey

I wouldn’t want to change anything on the dial, they are already more or less perfect. The only thing I would like to do is engrave the rear with my Dad’s name and date of birth, then present it to him on his forthcoming 90th birthday. The retro design would make an outstanding gift for him on such a special occasion.

  • TresGut

i’d love to etch the caseback with all the names of the countries I have visited.

  • Mike Potts

Wow, what a fabulous prize; beautifully simple design of those watches as well. How to incorporate a ‘memory’ without spoiling the watch – tricky? It would have to be a very small engraving around the inside of the face perhaps, such that you’d only know it was there if you looked hard or had it pointed out to you. Probably the place name, date of the visit and/or the names of the people with you.

    • Berndt Norten

      Wouldn’t that be special

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I think a second coming of The Lord is nigh.

        • Berndt Norten

          I have SINNED

        • Berndt Norten

          Help me!

  • Domingo

This is amazing. Even if I Don’t win can I join the group with Ariel and visit undone?

    • Berndt Norten

      Unlikely

      • Mikita

They have one bottle of Delamain De Voyage and don’t want to share?

        • Berndt Norten

Never had that Delamain. Just their entry level one and their … Vesper? Have I got my brands correct. On the light side, delicate

          • Mikita

Vesper is fine delicate stuff. I also haven’t tried De Voyage..

  • Ayreonaut

I would engrave the caseback with the place and date

  • LapYoda

Wow! This is a fantastic giveaway, especially to my family’s home of Hong Kong! I’d love to return after 30 years and experience it as an adult with older, more experienced eyes. It’s hard to customize a watch to incorporate the sights and sounds of Hong Kong, but I would want a watch with traditional Chinese lucky colors of red and gold, incorporating Chinese text and maybe a little vial of soil from where my mom’s family lived so I can keep a bit of my homeland with me. I’d also like a symbol on the dial – perhaps a dragon or nine (look up the meaning of Kowloon), or the HK flags from both the colonial period and now. Thanks ABTW and Undone for sponsoring this amazing contest!

    • Berndt Norten

What’s so amazing about it? It strikes me as sad.

      • LapYoda

Because the city is amazing, and for me it’s a reminder of my childhood.

        • Berndt Norten

          Ok

    • Spangles

After 30 years, everything you knew and loved there is dead.

      • LapYoda

        1) No.
        2) You’re a ray of sunshine, aren’t you?

  • Jlh5683

I’ve always thought buying a watch on a trip, especially overseas would be 100% better than any other experience especially when this watch comes from the country you are visiting. I like the idea of engraving for memories much like the old notes our grandparents would write on the black and white photos. -Jim Hong Kong 2018.

    • Berndt Norten

I’d go for the old Loblaws guy and his ‘Memories of Shanghai ‘ BBQ sauce

      • Mikita

You are ruthless in your attempts to talk to one message guys. They are here to win! Not to chat.

  • Ted Cole

Needless to say this is a great contest! I would incorporate symbols of my experiences around the side of the watch, and possibly change the shape of the crown as well.

    • Berndt Norten

      Do tell

  • br1ce

What a great giveaway! I would probably get the case / caseback / dial engraved with special memories!

    • Berndt Norten

      Misty water coloured memories?

      • Mikita

        Kinda sticky memories?

  • DanW94

Four days in Hong Kong with AA? Are Bredan and Zen going to be there? I see a baby strapped to David, a trunk full of hot Undones and the Hong Kong authorities in pursuit. Good times ahead…

    • Berndt Norten

      And perhaps they’ll throw in…

      One Night in Bangkok

      • DanW94

        Marius can set that up.

        • Berndt Norten

          Actually wasn’t it, um,

          Murray Head!

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        We gotta hit Macau.

        • Berndt Norten

It’s such a small town rodeo
Such famous people here with nowhere to go
Well, it don’t get to me, I think it’s the pits
I got no friends, I wanna split
The daily papers seek a desperate face
The television cameras join in the chase
It’s much fun interviewing urban decay
          I grab the microphone away

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Side trip to the New Vatican: Brisbane. Brizzers, f#ckers!!

        • Berndt Norten

          The New World Pontiff

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Before I submit my official entry to abtw (and Victor Firewall diGenoa), will an entrant be disqualified for not doing the follow on social media part?

    • Berndt Norten

      You’re fired!

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        Sad….

    • Mikita

You may skip the follow thing, just need to kiss the Undone’s Undone

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

OK now I’m out. Sorry, Brother. See you in Brisbane one of these years.

        • Mikita

          Vile rules.. dammit.

  • Humphrey Mar

I’m not sure how a watch can reflect a memory, but the watch would certainly be memorable!

  • Matt

This is a pretty wild idea for a giveaway, love it! I’m not sure how much customization is possible, but I’d want an engraving of the HK skyline on the caseback. When I think of HK I also think of all the brilliant colours of the city, so perhaps incorporating bright colour into the dial…tough call but a fun thought!
….well, the promotion worked, now I’m heading to the Undone website to see what they’ve been doing lately.

  • Jonathan

I would opt for a caseback engraving of the location (perhaps an outline of the map), or incorporating colors from the flag onto the dial and/or hands.

  • Berndt Norten

I’d get a memorable line from John Lanchester’s classic novel, Fragrant Harbour, engraved.

    • Solloshi B. Hawkins

      Ever eat at The Delta?

      • Berndt Norten

        Malheureusement, non.

  • Heith

    Great contest!

    • Berndt Norten

      Great post!

      • Terance Hill

You are truly having a ball
        Good for you

        • Berndt Norten

          I’d rather get a Ball…watch

          • Terance Hill

I’m glad you like them I still don’t know about the loom tube so my judgment is still out

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I’d rather lose a ball than get a Ball.

          • Raymond Wilkie

            Oh, it’s you Gene.

          • DanW94

Just hold your Ball up to your ball long enough and the tritium will do the rest….

          • Berndt Norten

Get your Balls to the wall!

      • Mikita

        Great poster!

        • DanW94

Berndt’s the great post poster child.

          • Berndt Norten

Dan’s the man with the plan from Tennessee

          • DanW94

Berndt, please come to Boston for the spring time.

          • Berndt Norten

I’m. A sucker for that song

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Will you 2 just make love in Dan’s Chevy van already?

          • DanW94

Um, that’s not alright with me.

  • Daniel Park

I would try to get a locally made watch. If not, get a nato strap with the colors of their flag or an engraving of the date/something local.

  • Raymond Wilkie

Refuse collector walks into a chinese restaurant and says ” where’s your bin ?” .
” I been to Hong Kong ” came the reply.
” No no ” replied the binman, ” where’s your wheely bin ”
” i wheely been to Hong Kong ” replied the man.

    • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Can’t tell. Is wacis? No is wacis?

  • mihai857

I’d get a caseback engraving with the most iconic building in Hong Kong’s skyline or a glass print caseback with Hong Kong’s emblem.

  • simon

Most of everyone’s comments here are a joke. When this brand was advertised, they were ripped to shreds by most of you….the moment they do a give-away, all of the sudden its the greatest thing ever, and the a$$ kissing begins. give me a break. they couldn’t give me this watch. Give this prize to Marius….he will know what to do with it.

    • Berndt Norten

I don’t want it. I’m just here to entertain the troops.

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

He’s the Bette Midler of abtw.

        • Berndt Norten

I’m certainly a B.M., as many here would attest

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

            Le Box Merde.
3 deuces in the cardboard, each one seeking happiness, dumped by 1 restless Dane.

      • simon

Wasn’t referring to you either, in my comment above.

    • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Fair enough. But what about the trip to HK part?

      • simon

Is that what it takes for you to suddenly like a watch? Interesting.

        • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I didn’t say that. But I’m not going to play Mr. 2CoolForSchool and pretend that a trip to Hong Kong is a sh*t prize.

          • simon

really?!….you would take the money of a brand you wouldnt buy or recommend, and pretend its all great for a trip to Hong Kong? Its not being 2coolforschool, its just being honest. it would be different if its for a watch company you fully appreciate and are passionate about, but to do it just to squeeze a free trip…..that fu#4ed up.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

OK, moralizer. I would probably give the watch to a cousin who’s graduating from college next year. But this brand is too irredeemably sh*tty for that, right? I must not like him if I give him an Undone. So if I win I’ll send it to you and you can make a video destroying it with a hammer instead of giving it to someone you care about who might enjoy it. Because that’s what Undone deserves. No one of sound mind could possibly like something that I don’t like or you don’t like.

        • Mikita

Hey, he just wants to meet his Brother Horsemen of the Watchapocalypse!

    • Raymond Wilkie

On this occasion my comment was a joke but when i saw these watches i thought they were ok, some nice colours, but nothing special.

      • Berndt Norten

        Movin on?
        Movin on down da road?
        To the Fragrant Harbour

        • Raymond Wilkie

          Berndt !

      • simon

I know your joking, which is why I wrote “most of everyone’s”. Some of the others…..

    • SuperStrapper

You know the prize also comes with a paid trip to HK right? You’re so above this brand that’s of no interest? If only we were all so superior…

      • simon

It has nothing to do with superiority. I have no interest in the brand at all. Why would I accept a trip from a brand that I would not buy from or recommend to anyone. It is immoral and would be taking advantage of the brand marketing budget. I am above doing that.

        • SuperStrapper

No, it’s not, and you’re just being ridiculous.

And the trip is from the Blog, not the brand.

          • simon

oh, you think Ablogtowatch, who makes its money from brand marketing dollars is footing the bill to fly someone to Hong Kong, in order to visit the Undone facility….to make a custom watch, and then will most likely wriste a post about it? It actually says in the article, because clearly you didn’t read it: “Good luck, and thanks to Undone, sponsor of the Visit Hong Kong and Undone Watch Giveaway here at aBlogtoWatch!” Perhaps your the one who is ridiculous, and naive. Again, to reiterate…I have no problem with the prize or trip, but I do have a problem with people bashing this brand when it was initially posted, then all of the sudden loving it when they are paying for a trip and giveaway. These are also the same people who mock brands and say they are not affected by “marketing”.

          • SuperStrapper

            I literally laughed out loud.

          • Raymond Wilkie

Calm down folks , it’s just a crappy watch in an overpopulated hellhole.

          • Berndt Norten

            Good one…whatever your name is

          • Raymond Wilkie

            Folks call me Bill.

          • Berndt Norten

            Yes they do

  • Ben

It would be fun… I like the latest range with the improved lugs. Hong Kong is always a great place to visit!

  • Joshua Smith

As a big fan of Undone, I was an early kickstarter backer, I’d really love to meet the creators and learn more about what motivates them and how they plan to build for the future. Visiting a world class city like Hong Kong is a treat in and of itself! I could imagine and image of the Hong Kong skyline and an inscription from the Undone team on the back as a great memory!

    • Berndt Norten

      Unbelievable!

      • Joshua Smith

As true as the sky is blue!

    • Spangles

I do not believe you are a human person.

      • Joshua Smith

I’m real and like their watches!

        • Spangles

          I didn’t say you weren’t real…

          • Joshua Smith

Fair enough. Though, I am also a human person.

I have visited HK for many times when I was young for business trip, the most unforgotable thing for me is the tasty food. I supposed it’s not possible to connect the food with the watch, isn’t it ? By the way, it’s so much fun to customize your watch through Undone systom to create your own watch subject to Undone can offer more options for all accessories.

    • Mikita

Simon above explained how to connect the food with the watch 🙂

  • simon

I want to be up for this prize. I would go to Hong Kong, and in order to capture the essence of the watch, I would like to fart in the case and have the undone team seal it in forever. Many many generations later, as this is passed down through families, when it is finally opened for service….they too will also be able to capture the moment I had with this watch.

    • Mikita

      LOL

  • Phil

Love the look of these new pieces.
A simple engraving of the place name and year on the back would do me to incorporate a memory from a trip.

  • Austin Greer

The dials are beautiful. I would go for a red dial for Hong Kong’s red flag with the flag’s orchid engraved on the caseback.

    • Berndt Norten

      The winds of change.

  • Dominic Cloutier

I would immerse myself in the local culture and allow that to permeate my choices in design elements

When I travel for fun I typically go somewhere near the sea. The water off the Mediterranean are my favorite out of all the coastal spots I’ve been to. I would incorporate the color of the sea from Santorini into the dial. I believe Undone could pull it off. Their dials are amazing!

  • Chris Teoh

What a fantastic idea to have a giveaway and a trip to HK, when I was fresh out of uni I had made my first two watch purchases in HK and I have always related HK with watches, great food and lovely culture/people (have relatives there). With many fond memories of HK, I would definitely engrave the case back of a green undone watch (reminds me of Jade, which is highly revered in chinese culture) with the HK skyline showcasing the laser light show ! (Never gets old, from the very first time I went on a ferry to see it ! What a sight to behold)

  • Kyle Herret

TO be able to go see Hong Kong’s watch market would be more than enough but to actually visit Undone and design your own watch? That’s taking it to a whole other level. Count me in.

  • IG

I’d get the local hooker’s name engraved to the dial whom I get the STD from.

    • WINKS

Scary comment fo make on World AIDS day…

      • SuperStrapper

Thr whole world has AIDS today? I knew that HIV would accellerate eventually…

  • John

what an opportunity for someone!!! wonderful culture, history and a watch company that is truly making a difference in the watch world. I would have to incorporate “Red” in the watch since it is such a powerful festive color
for the Chinese people, used to convey a sense of celebration and
nationalism and inscribe the date of the trip on the back.

  • Daniel Gilland

The watch itself would be an incredible memory. I traveled to Hong Kong about 18 years ago now and have always wanted to go back. The watch would represent a memory of one of my favorite trips I’ve had the privilege of taking in my life.

  • Bill Graves

I would want the watch to reflect the cultural aspect of the journey.

    • Berndt Norten

      Why?

      • Bill Graves

The memories of any trip to me that are most vivid are either sights of an old world nature or interactions with the local populace, learning about some of their customs. The watch design should make me reconnect with my journey.

        • Berndt Norten

Like the way they dump sewage into the streets in Naples?

  • Peter Weady

I really like the idea of a watch as a travel souvenir. The last time I was in Paris I picked up a Swatch System 51 watch before they were available in the US. I’m going to Switzerland next year and plan on getting one there as well. I’ve never customized a watch though. Instead of engraving I think I would get the destination and dates printed on the glass case back.

    • Berndt Norten

I got my Sistem 51 from Amazon. I’m going to write a poem about that experience

      • DanW94

Remember the excitement as you slowly clicked the “Add to Cart” button……Anticipation, O’ glorious transaction, it’s keeping me waiting….

I remember my first travels to Switzerland, I was so excited to get some Swatch I could have in home region in France. And when I grow up I bought a nice PRS 516 Valjoux in Zurich remembering this nice tradition from the past…now I am looking for some very specific vintage watches and it is more difficult to find them when travelling. As always for me watches are about emotions and nostalgia: about life.

    • Berndt Norten

My wife and I are planning a trip to Canada next year to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It would be amazing to get a customisable watch to commemorate the occasion!

Pour some maple syrup on it
      (In the name of love)

      • SuperStrapper

        A classic Canadian proposal…

      • Chris MoJo

Maybe a maple syrup coloured dial with an engraved maple leaf on the back, hockey stick hands and a small grey jay on the crown? The concept possibly needs some further work…

        • Berndt Norten

          Frankly I think it might.

    • SuperStrapper

      Where are you going?

      • Berndt Norten

Both my wife and I define our personal style as “what we like” and cherish both the history of the pieces we own as well as the stories of how they came to us. A trip to China (where neither of us has ever been) and a watch to commemorate the visit (along with the absolutely unique story behind it) would be the pinnacle of my collection.

    • Berndt Norten

What a great giveaway! I’ve been eyeing a customized Urban Vintage chronograph for a while, so I can’t think of a more memorable way to get one than with a trip to the Undone factory. If given the chance I’d probably see if I could do something unique with the dial or hand/color combinations that aren’t available on the customizer, then definitely a special inscription on the back to remember the trip. Maybe they’d even let you help with part of the assembly of your customized creation…

    KRAVITZ!!!!!!

  • Graeme Pang

Having originally been brought up in Hong Kong and not having had a chance to go back in a long time it would be such a fantastic experience to go back to revisit sights of my childhood and the opportunity to check out the fantastic work being done back in my home country on making these great works of art breaking the stereotype that a good watch needs to be from “Swiss made” with traditional chinese calligraphy on a red or green dial

    • Berndt Norten

But think of all those who have never been fortunate enough to visit HK. I think you’re being selfish.

I would create a killer dive watch to remind me of a trip to Honduras as a kid. First time diving in the tropics!

    • Berndt Norten

      Hong Kong, dude, not Honduras

      • D.C.

I think you misread the question, dude. “mention how you would incorporate a memory from a trip into a personalized watch design.”

        • Berndt Norten

          Forgive me.

  • Chaz

    To whoever wins….go search go141.com/en

    Then enjoy HK!!!!

    • Raymond Wilkie

      I clicked on that !

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Raymond’s the kind of guy who would admit at a party that he was the one who farted. Gotta respect the honesty.

  • FollowPhil

I would put some color forefront to express the energy of Hong Kong, it would be a daring and bold look!

    • Berndt Norten

This is the type of mentality that brought us Frank Gehry’s best work

  • Stefano Blandina

Customization is simply in memories of what I did with it, memories that will be graven on it forever! And, if I have to choose a good memory, well I think about a fantastic four days journey in HK with a nice Undone with a green fumè dial on my wrist.

    • Berndt Norten

      Brilliant!

  • Mika Vääräniemi

Great giveaway! Hong Kong skyline as a picture or colors in the watch.

  • VandyChiver

From my honeymoon to Turkey, I would incorporate the landscape of Cappadocia into the watch face.

  • Daniel Harper

My goodness this would be a heck of an experience! I think I’d incorporate some of the colors that I see in the architecture, as well as the shapes, rather they be angular or soft. I’m confident that my custom watch would ROCK!

  • PeterGK

I would let it be inspired by my surroundings, so for Hong Kong I would keep it very modern with a bright color that stands out. The final touch would be an inscription on the back as a reminder of the place and the time I made the watch.

  • Larry Holmack

Wow…that would be an amazing trip!!! I would have to make the dial an abstract art piece with the deep blue of the sky in the background and all the neon colors splashed all over the dial…in the style of Jackson Polllock.

  • Jason Yee

I would choose something that is distictive and very different from the rest of my collection (i.e. a bold dial color or case material), so that it stands out and everytime I look at it in my watchbox I will be reminded of the trip!

  • Darh109

I would engrave symbols connected with the trip on the bracelet links.

    • Berndt Norten

What type of symbols? Or is it a secret?

  • Ovis

I would just chose a brushed finish for the case

    • Berndt Norten

      Why not a matte finish?

  • EdipisReks

I would try to incorporate something that would symbolize the Hong Kong skyline.

    • Berndt Norten

Call it Memphis, I mean Hong Kong Skyline!

  • Bryan Arent

Material or colors that reflect the local terrain into the watch strap for example

    • Berndt Norten

Ah, yes, the elusive goal…to capture the terroir.

  • morrm1

I would choose something that reminded me of a remarkable aspect of the trip. If I was blown away by the sunsets I could go for an orange sunburst dial. If there was architecture that I was really impressed with, maybe I would focus more on an interesting case/lug shape or hour markers.

  • rhyino

I would ask the watchmaker to mark the case back with the date, their initials and maybe a quote.

    • Berndt Norten

What would be the quote? Don’t leave us hanging!

      • BNABOD

        Don’t leave it Undone

        • Raymond Wilkie

          Puns are lost on Americans.

          • Raymond Wilkie

A great Scot ! One of many that shape the world you live in,……….you’re welcome.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I beat you at puns any day. But I guess that’s the Belgian part of me, not the American.

  • Doober

I would like to have a laser-etched case-back of a location visited on the trip, as well as on the bezel. This could also include the face as well.

    • Berndt Norten

      Good one, Doobie Brother

  • Andi

On all my trips, the most memorable thing always were the people I’ve met.
At the end of this HK trip, I would ask the woman who impressed me the most/I liked the most, to put a lipstick-kiss on a piece of paper. A negative print of that kiss should get engraved/lasered on the caseback, along with the lettering ‘From Hong Kong with Love’

    • Berndt Norten

Don’t stop there! You randy Andi, you!

    • spiceballs

      signed Nancy Kwan – – ?

  • AD

Yes Please! I would engrave a memorable site name during the visit.

    • Berndt Norten

      Web site? Burial site?

      • AD

A place name in Hong Kong that I visited.

  • Jon Heinz

This may sound weird, but I might just choose a motif that kinda captured the general vibe of the trip altogether…the local architecture and sights, people, etc.

    • Berndt Norten

No that sounds perfect. Like a Heinz 57 portrait, replete with nuance, complexity, pointillisme

  • shannon fowler

I think my most memorable trip with to mount McKinley with my fiancé. I would maybe find a way to incorporating some of the rock or the natural land into the watch design.

    • Berndt Norten

      And call it Denali!!!!!!

  • Sarah

I would incorporate color’s that particularly caught my eye. Also maybe certain symbols or designs seen throughout the trip.

    • Berndt Norten

Plural not possessive. Colors, like the film with Duvall and Penn

  • Dave Ryan

Probably just design it and let the watch serve as a reminder.

    • Berndt Norten

      That’s complex, nuanced, sophisticated

      • Dave Ryan

You probably have the same design choices available that the masses do.

I’d really just be waisting effort to think of some ill-contrived emotional bond I’ve made with a watch that doesn’t exist on a trip that has not and most likely will not happen to me.

Personally I think too many people try to hard to appear more complex, nuanced and sophisticated than they are and end up looking like a gorilla in a tuxedo.

        • Berndt Norten

Like Gorilla Monsoon in black tie holding forth with Bobby the Brain Heenan?

          • Dave Ryan

            Yeah sure, that’ll work.

          • Berndt Norten

            Phew!

  • funNactive

I would incorporate the colors that reminded me of the trip into the watch to cement the memory!

    • Berndt Norten

See Into the Night. Terrible film. But one good scene, where Jeff Goldblum says to Michelle Pfeiffer, ‘this is ridiculous ‘

  • Berndt Norten

Am I the only one loving the new Dynasty on Netflix? It’s so bad it’s good. And it doesn’t take itself seriously

  • Nizia Jamee

I’d like to incorporate a photo from a trip if it is possible.if not possible then maybe some sort of symbol.

  • Ross Diljohn

A totally black dial with the Bauhinia blakeana flower engraved on the back.

    • spiceballs

      Bauhinia – good

  • Ty Philips

Hongers is indeed a city filled with watch enthusiasts and it would be a thrill to join Ariel in visiting it and sharing our collective passion for watchmaking and wearing. I think a customized engraving either on the flank or caseback of a custom watch, with the date, the location and with grateful appreciation & thanks, is a perfect way to celebrate such an event! Happy Holidays to all! -ty

  • jimley815

I think I would incorporate a memory into the band- or the case. There are so many ways to do that- and this experience would be a memory that would last a lifetime.

    • Berndt Norten

      Wow. Can you share more?

  • Berndt Norten

    KRAVITZ !!!!!!!

  • Jared Sharpe

This would be a once in a lifetime trip, so it would be an amazing opportunity to create a truly one-of-a-kind Undone watch in one of the largest wristwatch Meccas in the world. How do we make this happen? The only way we know how to: (as a disclaimer, these are all simply ideas and may not truly reflect the capabilities to actually create the custom timepiece. As many that could be done, the better)
    1. Seeing the Patek Exhibition in NYC this summer was amazing. Seeing the new minute repeater with enamel dial of New York City during the day and evening was even more fantastic-Here’s a thought, instead of making a custom dial, I have never seen a truly custom strap. Make a beautiful strap with the city of Hong Kong centered along the strap from one end to the other. How cool would that be?

    2. Much like Paul Newman’s Daytona being personally engraved for him by his lovely wife Joanne Woodward, “Drive Carefully Me,” why not inscribe on the caseback a special message with the date of the visit? Another way to truly make it one of a kind.

    3. Since you are in one of the watch capitals of the world enjoying a simply amazing trip with one of the best watch blog authors on the internet, it is only fitting to also include the colors of the city you are in. The colors of the Hong Kong flag include red and white. Making a beautiful red dial with gorgeous white hands/indices would pop and be truly special.

    4. Well, how could we top this off with another one of a kind idea for this perfect timepiece? I say place Chinese numbers (1-12 or just as much as could fit) for the indices. Similar to how Rolex does the Arabic numerals for their blue dials, create custom indices commemorating this special occasion.

I really believe that doing all or as much of this as possible makes this a standout piece that not only makes it truly one of a kind, but also creates something that reminds you of an experience that you could not duplicate again. Sure, we all have wonderful moments in our life, but as the old saying Carpe Diem goes, let’s seize the day!

Really a wonderful opportunity for any watch enthusiast to enjoy and I really look forward to being the lucky person to win this great opportunity to travel and experience watchmaking on a new level! Thanks for offering this aBlogtoWatch and Ariel Adams!

    • Berndt Norten

You win the braun nose award

    • Raymond Wilkie

Hands up ! , I’ve lost. This guy knows what to type, and first comment to.

  • Tea Hound

Listen up. Enough pissing around with the sycophantic bullshit. These are not good watches, but if someone wants to pay for me to go to Hong Kong, then, as long as I’m staying in the sort of hotel that only the stupidly rich can afford, then so be it. Bring it on. But don’t make me pretend to like these shitty second-rate crap-pieces for fuck’s sake.

    • Berndt Norten

You get my vote. Me… HK, been there done that

    • rosannepm

      • Tea Hound

You’ll be so angry when I win this…

      • Daniel Katz

        • Raymond Wilkie

          Thanks Daniel,……………i think.

          • Daniel Katz

            Hahaha…..,Im actually with you here

      • Tea Hound

Sometimes swearing is both big and clever.

  • PickleRick

If I were lucky enough to win this great watch & trip, I would customize the dial.
The area under the “12” would have “ABTW 2018” on it. The area above the “6” would have the Hong Kong coat of arms. This way would commemorate the Trip & the host!

  • rosannepm

I’ve traveled all over the world. Each city and country has colors that are particular to that area. I would choose a color that is prominent to me as I enter Hong Kong. I was in Shanghai this summer and unfortunately the color of theat city was Gray. Gray buildings ,roads and sky. I follow you and Undone on Instagram and you on Facebook Rosanne

    • Raymond Wilkie

      That would be Grey,…………..you’re welcome.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

OK. I won’t upvote your comment.

    • spiceballs

I’d pick yellow gold to reflect HK’s vibrancy and heritage.

I hope you’re not including my noble defence of our beloved site?

  • AshFromCan

When I think of Hong Kong, I think of delicious food. If I were to win, I’d incorporate a colour or texture that reminds me of delicious Hong Kong street food into my watch!

    • Berndt Norten

You could engrave onto the watch: HK e.Coli

  • GojiB

I think there are plenty of places in my past travels that can inspire me for a watch design.. London, Hawaii, Beijing and three places that come to mind pretty quickly, but for all practical purposes, home’s where i’d look at for this – Brooklyn!

    • Berndt Norten

      No sleep till Brooklyn!

  • FilmEditorFL

Mine is like this- Of all my travel memories, I like to think of what color I see when I imagine the city. For example, when I remember Atlanta, I see red, Paris is an off white, Los Angeles is brown, Chicago is green and so on. I would pick a color of a watch dial that represents my Hong Kong color.

    • Berndt Norten

And just what colour might that be?!

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        Please don’t say yellow.

        • Berndt Norten

Aaaah thespian Chris look at my wrist Martin!

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

This comment section is the adventure of a lifetime.

          • Raymond Wilkie

I do wish people would stick to the point.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Sorry. Me like watch. Me want trip. Pick me. Pick me. Better?

          • Berndt Norten

            Ain’t it grand?

      • FilmEditorFL

I’ve never been to Hong Kong but I’d guess an electric blue like neon.

        • Berndt Norten

          Sounds good

  • Mark

For me it would be to incorporate a dial color and engraving. Like for Monterey, CA something like the jellyfish picture attached. For Hong https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/0b3850d8a29ff34bc7fae08d47bd1b648cbfd7d0774bfeb109b767be86e9aa1b.jpg Kong if I won, I would probably go with a irradecent red dial with Hong Kong written in gold Chinese characters under the 12 o’clock with ABTW 2018 engraved on the case back.

    • Berndt Norten

Iridescent? You’ll have extra homework tonight

  • Daniel Katz

To borrow From my Tudor BBBlue
I would have a flower of the location or philosophy of location right under the hands at the centre , than 3-4 Words , an iconic phrase
With a line from a poem in that location in the same realm of respect as 12 century poet RUMI

  • SeanM

I would add a bit of sand or dirt into the lacquer so every time I look at the watch, I would see where it came from

    • Raymond Wilkie

It comes with a complimentary surgical face mask.

      • Mikita

I think you mistaked the city with Beijing..

        • Raymond Wilkie

You see them all over Hong Kong as well.

          • Berndt Norten

            What? Eyes without a face?

          • Raymond Wilkie

can you only talk in verse Billy !

          • Berndt Norten

            Um, yes.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

            C’mon, Billy!

          • Berndt Norten

            Good one, BILL

          • Raymond Wilkie

            Oh………..is Bill back ?

          • Berndt Norten

            Yes you are

          • Mikita

Damn, I currently stay in Shenzhen – it borders with HK. Need to check air here, but I haven’t seen any masks so far.

          • spiceballs

That is incorrect. Yes, one can see some using facemasks, at around 0.001% of those out and about, and most of these use facemasks to stop themselves from spreading their germs – hangover from SARS.

          • Raymond Wilkie

A paper face mask does nothing for the spread SARS or the flu virus which just fly though a cheap paper face mask but if that’s all you have, you’ll wear it. lots of folks put one on when they get a cold out of politeness but as far as transmission of the virus’ was useless. 0.001% ? . I think it’s a bit higher.

          • spiceballs

Well, you’d be wrong (again) on both counts. Firstly; the greater percentage of face masks worn in HK are surgical grade as prescribed by doctors, and I”d rather take their word for it than yours. Secondly; I’ve just walked from Sheung Wan to Causeway Bay and back (on Hong Kong Island, FYI) and I didn’t see one person wearing a face mask. So my percentage is probably high, although it does go up (a little) when its smoggy.

    • Berndt Norten

There’s likely going to be some dirt left in there anyway, Joe

    • spiceballs

Don’t really understand this comment? Yes, HK is more polluted than in the past as are many other large cities (no thanks to China mainland) but fortunately not all the time, Today is start of Formula E races and its a beautiful day with temps 21-26*C and 70% RH, which good for this time of the year :-).

      • Berndt Norten

You’re assuming you’re dealing with rational people

        • Mikita

I would correct – he’s assuming he’s dealing with people.

          • Berndt Norten

            Are we not men?

          • spiceballs

            manly men?

          • Mikita

Average contest participant? I’m not sure about human race

          • DanW94

            We are Devo.

        • spiceballs

          you’re right – – – I get that a lot.

  • spiceballs

I don’t need a trip to HK as I currently reside here but I wouldn’t mind a trip to
“Undone” as I appreciate the finish on their dials, but, for me, that’s about it.

    • Raymond Wilkie

Believe me, it wouldn’t be worth the trip.

  • Gonzalo Deubelbeis

Definitely something from Asian culture has to be included… perhaps some food or typical tree-flower scente which can be spilled from the watch in a systematic way.

    • Berndt Norten

      ??

      • Raymond Wilkie

OK, …..that’s as much as i can tolerate. What the hell is that meant to mean ?

        • Berndt Norten

          ???

          • Raymond Wilkie

            A tree smelling watch.

    • Berndt Norten

That’s very Sino-centric of you. What about poor Iceland?

      • Mikita

Berndt, you have exactly 1.2 second to communicate with an average contestant. This is exact the time before they close the ABTW tab until the next giveaway.

        • Berndt Norten

          And yet I persist

          • Mikita

            ???????

          • Raymond Wilkie

            He’s definitely a dying breed

          • Raymond Wilkie

Man of La Mancha ? let’s reign it in a bit. 🙂

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Dirt on the dial? Systemic scent spilling? This is getting good.

A trip for one to HK. My memory will be some peace and quiet, having no kids jump on my head. Super clean powder blue face and no other details is how I’d be reminded of that bliss.

    • Berndt Norten

Your kids will resent you for that attitude

          • Berndt Norten

            Funny Raymond, funny

  • Lurch

If I won the trip, I would go to the Undone factory and joke with everyone I meet telling them “your shirt button is undone”, “your zipper is undone”, “your watch is undone”. Then I would create an undone Undone watch by not putting on the seconds hand, or remove one of the chrono pushers.

  • Andres

I would add a small compartment in which to place some earth from that special place. For anyone who sees the clock that would mean nothing but for the owner will always know that it carries a part of that place that mean so much.

    • Berndt Norten

That brought tears to my eyes

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I would have the dial coated with scratch-off lotto ticket dust to signify that I’m playing with house money. I’d also like some kind of transponder in there, connected to my microwave, so that when I hit the pusher it cooks my lasagna. And something about Hong Kong. But mostly inspired by lasagna. Because I love lasagna.

  • Bob Rios

Engrave “Holy crap, I won this boss watch” in Cantonese on the back plate of my boss watch that I just won.

In case I win, I will come to HK and shout “DONE!” And when I come to Undone, I’ll get my job done, leaving something undone, just to have the brand’s identity done (I don’t want to feel that it came undone).

  • Andrew

HK Island has a pretty iconic skyline, whether the buildings or the mountains. I’d take a red and silver one with a line drawing of the mountains across the face.

    • Berndt Norten

      Are you sure?

  • PAltares

I think that, as it pertains to this giveaway, just having a watch that I not only made, but made in Honk Kong, would be plenty enough to remember the occasion. In a more vague sense, I could think of a lot of cool ways personalize a watch to signify certain occasions or events.

    • Berndt Norten

Your post is vague to the point of being meaningless.

      • Raymond Wilkie

        Where’s Honk Kong ?…………………..Sloppy

    it `s a dream trip

    • Mikita

      ?????

    • Berndt Norten

      How so?

  • Dean Curtis

If chosen to win the https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/fe41e0b7b3416476648b772c72eeda526142b8eb3b1660c20b8641d7ccb91f29.jpg trip to Hong Kong, I’d choose the Urban model with the modern dial. This would represent the modernity of Hong Kong. I would then choose the hours and minutes hands to be in red and the seconds hand to be in yellow. These colours would represent the colours of the Chinese flag.

I would choose a solid case back and have them engrave it with something along the lines of ‘With thanks from Dean Curtis to Undone Watches and ABlogToWatch 2018’

That would be a pretty cool trip! I’m British living in Middle East (fairly close) to HK, and yet never been before.

    • Berndt Norten

the flag issue is a little politically sensitive. You lose.

    • Raymond Wilkie

Red and yellow plays havoc with me.

      • Dean Curtis

Check out the image I uploaded. It doesn’t sound like it would work but it actually looks good.

        • Berndt Norten

          Thanks but I’ll pass

        • Raymond Wilkie

sorry, but with all due respect 2 prime colours just doesn’t work for me. Bit Swatchy.

        • Berndt Norten

Heard the one about Dean Martin and Tony Curtis ?

          • Dean Curtis

            No, I’ll pass ?

          • Berndt Norten

            Good answer!

  • Cary Lewison

Two bucket list items. Visit Hong Kong and meet Ariel Adams. 🙂 Also a big fan of the Undone micro-brand and their latest Mystique collection. To commemorate the trip I would collaborate with Ariel on the final design.

    • Berndt Norten

      Suffering sycophancy!

      • Raymond Wilkie

Haha……..As soon as i saw person typing i knew you couldn’t contain yourself 🙂

  • Brett Lintvelt

To customize this watch I would choose to engrave the case back with the Hong Kong flag.”A stylish white, five-petal bauhinia flower is centered on a red field.” I would then enamel the engraving.

    • Berndt Norten

      What sort of enamel?

      • Brett Lintvelt

Champlevé enamel – cnc machined out then filled and fired. Would require a heavier caseback.

        • Berndt Norten

He’s a finalist! A serious contestant! How refreshing.

  • Roger Merrick

I’ve always wanted to visit HK but due to the distance and cost I’ve never made it happen. To win a trip with a watch focus in one of the most watch focused cities in the world would be amazing. To customize the watch, my first thought would be to integrate HK2018 into the text on the dial.

    • Berndt Norten

That’s an ok start. But you’re not quite into finalist territory. Try that again, a capella

      • Roger Merrick

Another thought was to change the color on the date wheel for the days in HK during the trip. If the sky’s the limit some sort of engraving on the case back from the trip would be cool too – a quote or a scene that resonates a memorable experience.

        • Berndt Norten

          Good

  • Avito Nicanor MD

Hong Kong has been very memorable place for me and my wife. We’re from the Philippines. Spent our honeymoon there, actually my first trip outside the philippines, bought our first of 3 his and hers watch there, and make sure to go there yearly, mostly during our anniversary every April, and if not on either of our birthdays. Yup, that’s for the past 25 years. What would be more appropriate, than to celebrate our next trip in HK, and hopefully win, and a bonus of having to design a “silver” (for our 25th, although belatedly) watch, and maybe with a number “25”, and also a number “4”, for our 4 children, placed somewhere in the watch, to commemorate our 25 years of blissful wedded lives…

    • #The Deplorable Boogur T. Wang

Much Congratulations on the 25 yrs.

      • Berndt Norten

Good grief. Must you be so….decent?!

        • #The Deplorable Boogur T. Wang

          It’s a choice.
          Costs me little,
And the paybacks are sometimes amazing.

    • Berndt Norten

Sounds like you could afford to buy one yourself. Think of the children.

  • Paul Zografos

I believe memories come from inspiration, so I would have to customize the watch based on an experience that happens on my trip! Who knows!

    • Berndt Norten

A little presumptuous of you, no?

  • zachary mann

Oh my lanta…This is an absolute ideal trip. I have always wanted to go to HK and explore the city, not to mention being able to see an awesome brand’s HQ first-hand and having a completely personalized watch made of my choosing…!

Customizing a watch based off of a trip memory, I’d try to go beyond the basics (red dial for Pamplona, Chronograph for Monaco, etc.) I would try to focus on the overall feel of the memory, as it can be related to a watch. I went to Bologna, Italy, which had an awesome, rustic, old-town vibe – which you could encompass in a watch with a leather hide strap, classic vintage dial arrangement, sterling case, and so on.

    This would be AMAZING.

    -Z

    • Berndt Norten

      Sounds boring–not amazing–to me.

      • zachary mann

        To each, his own.

        • Berndt Norten

          Good Mann

  • Steve Jacobs

I’d love the trip. I don’t know offhand how the trip itself would influence my design but hopefully the sights in HK would inspire me.

    • Berndt Norten

When you figure it out, get back to us with something concrete

  • Lyndon Tan

I’d love to have a beautiful landmark or scenery from my trip engraved onto the watch’s dial.

  • Alice Minx

I’ve never been to HongKong… I would love to go

    • Berndt Norten

The pinnacle of creative thought. If you wrote a college admissions essay you must have aced it?

  • M?n Phi

Hong Kong is a fantastic place to visit. I’ve always wanted to be there once in my life 🙂

    • Berndt Norten

      You and a billion others.

  • Kevin Lam

Love HK! Would be great to go back.

    • Berndt Norten

      Wow, that’s original! You win!

  • Anne C

I have never been to Hong Kong and never had a personalized design on a watch. If I get to visit Hong Kong and design a watch, I’d definitely get white and yellow colors in the watch because I’ll be wearing those colors on my trip!

    • Berndt Norten

They say white is not a good colour for traveling. Stains and all that.

      • Anne C

Aw but I love white. White leather bags, shoes, or accessories then! And I’m pretty sure I have worn white shirts once or twice before, no accidents. Yet! ?

        • Berndt Norten

Remember them basement parties, your brother’s karate
The all day rock and roll shows
Them homesick blues and radical views
Haven’t left a mark on you, you wear it well
A little out of time but I don’t mind

  • Yohaan Jacob

For my HK watch, I’d love an engraving on the back with the date and place. A crimson ceramic bezel would be pretty dope too, but it depends on what kind of watch it is; a tool watch would look better with maybe a crimson stripe on a white leather strap, with a white bezel and dial.
Finally, the five petal Hong Kong Orchid would make an interesting tidbit on the crown.

    • Berndt Norten

      You said ‘dope’! Sweet!

      • Yohaan Jacob

I hope they don’t disqualify me. Where’s your entry!?

  • Yureshen Pillai

Pick me! Pick me! I’d create a piece that reminds me of HK at night.

    • Berndt Norten

Isn’t that unfair to the day?

  • Julien Wajnberg

If I would win this amazing prize I’d probably get the date engraved with some meaningfull words I would for sure hear troughout my days in the headquarters. I would listen to every employe listen to every story and from this I would for sure be marked by words or ideas or pictures and I would somehow transfer that thought to the back of my watch for it to become a perfect souvenir of that amazing occasion!

    • Berndt Norten

So, you’re a listener. You sound like Bill Clinton in 1992

    • Berndt Norten

If you spelled ‘meaningful’ correctly you’d save one character

  • Elmar Tobi

Wauw! What a great trip that would be!
Once owned a brown dialed watch. Was so nice that I would incorporate the best elements from that watch with some elements I like from some vintage JLC and GP I particularly like….
Would also like to get a crown with a personal monogram! Dreaming….

And would live to shop for some vintage Seiko pieces ehile there….

  • Elmar Tobi

    Wauw….that would be a trip.
I would love to make a brown dial version of the dial of a vintage piece with a special dial (my watchmaker has never seen anything like it in his 15 plus years in business) that reminds me of all my family vacations to the alps.
Would also love to have my own monogrammed crown…dreaming…

In hong kong I would also have to hunt for vintage enicar, seiko and tudor pieces!!

    • Berndt Norten

You said ‘dial’ three times in one line.

      • Elmar Tobi

Its kind of hard to focus when two kids are storming around you ;-). Normally I am more eloquent….
And I just really like the finishing on that one dial very much…

This afternoon I was also thinking about ways to incorporate the date of births of these two rascals in the chapter ring of the custom watch…. For isnt the most memorable trip, the trip that is your life?

        • Berndt Norten

It depends on one’s views on reincarnation

          • Elmar Tobi

Luckily traveling is not all about your destination, but the trip itself is also important.
It would arguably make a more interesting watch, when incorporating all that additional experience

          • Berndt Norten

Speaking of the trip, I assume it’s in sardine class. Does that change people’s views?

          • Elmar Tobi

Being usually on a budget, thats the usual mode of transportation…. At least this incarnation…

          • Berndt Norten

Thanks for being a good sport

  • Ephraim

I’d create a piece that reminds me of the place I visited somehow. For somewhere like Hong Kong, I’d think of the neon skyline – probably a lot of hues of purple and pink would make it into the design, while trying to retain an aura of luxury like the city’s.

    • Berndt Norten

Nah, there have been some more creative posts. Sorry.

  • Ian Cowle

Wow. What a fantastic prize. An amazing city and a unique opportunity to design your own watch. A money can’t buy prize if you ask me!

    • Berndt Norten

      Did someone ask you?

      • Ian Cowle

Did someone ask you to to post a childish pathetic comment?

        • Berndt Norten

Well, you posed the question ‘if you ask me?’ So I answered you.

  • Chris Bos

It would be a really strange experience, to win a price to an amazing city like HK. Imagine this corresponding crazy Undone Urban Chronograph timepiece: an Urban Rose Gold case, a brown sun ray dial, a silver crown, two rose gold chrono pushers, silver hour and minute hands, a rose gold second hand. A crazy and amazing combination, just like Undone and Hong Kong is.

    • Berndt Norten

      Highly imaginative!

  • Anthony Middlemiss

Depending on the location I’d either go with a dial colour that embodies the place I visited – for Hong Kong I’m thinking a striking red or green. If it was say somewhere like New Zealand then some Maori carving on caseback.

    • Berndt Norten

But it’s not New Zealand, is it?

    • Berndt Norten

      Did you miss Middlemas?

  • b12k3

Okayy.. that would be awesome. For me it’s hard to say before, because I didn’t visit Hong Kong yet. Maybe some like silver/gold watchcase, hands, pusher, crone combination with a dail and braclet coloration which represents the city in some way. By the way, I think no matter what kind of a watch the winner here will create, he will always remember about this amazing trip!

    • Berndt Norten

I don’t think this will do. Too vague.

  • Andrew Buckley

Every dent, every scratch is a personal memory of where I was and what I was doing at the time. That’s enough for me…

    • Berndt Norten

I like that, that took restraint.

  • sensemille

I would probably have one of the most memorable details from a picture laser etched on the back of the watch

    • Berndt Norten

      Can you be more specific?

      • sensemille

        Yes, I can be.

        • Berndt Norten

          Well that’s a relief!

  • Simon Ford

I’d incorporate the scottish flag either as second hands or the case back as its a reminder that my wife and children were born in scotland (also I’d incorporate the red from the england side to remember what a great union my wife and i make) but on the caseback I’d definitely have St George fighting the Scottish Rampant lion to remind me of the times we have arguments 🙂

    • Berndt Norten

Why not an image of Raymond?

  • at1time

I would incorporate the finisher’s shirt from the 1991 Portland Marathon.I broke the 3:50 barrier.

    • Berndt Norten

Wait, do they even have a subway in Portland?

  • Patricia

Last month I visited my 100th country. I’d love to implement a design machined on the back with the number 100 in raised lettering so when I handle the watch I could feel the 100 number. In each of the two zeroes of the 100 I’d have an etching of a flag. One would be the flag of Hong Kong, and the other the flag of my 100th country which is Morocco. This would be a once in a lifetime trip, to create the timepiece of a lifetime.

    • Berndt Norten

Use a belt or a bedpost

  • Steven Servantez

My watch would be aqua in color to represent the islands of the Caribbean, my favorite destination area.

    • Berndt Norten

How deep is your love? Will you visit the hurricane-ravaged islands or have you forgotten about them?

  • Giorgos Antoniou

The “second” hand would point to the second which had been given for the journey to Hong Kong to begin. And every time I would restart this hand, it would start from this specific second and not on the point “12” of the watch.

    • Berndt Norten

      That’s too complicated!

  • Hawkins Allen

I love Undone! I would have to match a color with some aspect of the trip. It might be warm rose gold for the mood in the country or a blue dial for the sea.

    • Berndt Norten

Is Hawkins your given name or surname?

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        Me?

  • Patrick-PJ .Thomas

It’s interesting that they have exhibition casebacks for quartz watches…I’d love to ask them how they decided to add that feature.

    • Berndt Norten

You could email them right now

  • Aman Khajanchi

During my vacation to Dubai and Abu Dhabi a few years ago, I was mesmerized by the architecture and intricate designs especially those at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Overlapped, interlaced and exquisite design combinations of complex patterns were so enthralling that they form the basis of my reasoning about incorporating Islamic tessellations into a personalized watch design

    • Playboy Johnny

I would prefer a Christian style design on my watch. More peaceful and less hatred.

      • Chaz

        “less hatred”

        LMFAO

  • 112010

    I want this trip! Yes!

    • Berndt Norten

      No!

  • DanW94

I’d take a trip back to the 70’s and have Hong Kong Phooey in action engraved on the caseback.

  • j4m3z

I like a watch design incorporating stunning lakes and landscapes like the ones found in NZ.

    • Berndt Norten

      How’s about HK?

  • Joshua

I’d love to customize the strap with a unique material or color to represent Hong Kong. Love to see what Undone can do!

    • Berndt Norten

      Get in touch with SuperStrapper

  • Andrei Mihaila

Theres only one way to do it. I would put a image of the Hong Kong Skyline with all the lasers and everything on the small seconds sub-dial. That skyline is gorgeous!

    • Berndt Norten

Are you sure theee couldn’t be a second way to do it?

      • Andrei Mihaila

You have too much time. No there isn’t. Hong Kong is a gorgeous city, and I want to visit it again.

        • Berndt Norten

          Ok you win

        • Berndt Norten

Yeah I’m sitting on this bar stool
          Talkin like a damn fool

  • Fantastic contest. A nice touch would be to have the memorable landmark, maybe a building, statue or even landscape, etched on to the back of the watch with the year.

    • Berndt Norten

Are you the first to suggest that?!

      • I did not really check when I commented but going through all the comments now, looks like I was the first 😉

        • Berndt Norten

That’s great. I assumed you had not been. So I tip my hat to you.

  • M. Halay Tunceriki

I would put local items like sand of an island or something like that

    • Berndt Norten

Would a piece of grit from a street suffice?

  • Roger Bowers

I would use the wonderful colors of Hawaii’s ocean and vegetation to bring me back there, day after day

    • Berndt Norten

There’s a Badfinger song that might get you singing. Day after day. You might have to settle for that.

  • Derek

I would incorporate the HK skyline on to case back with the date of the trip, at the least.

    • Berndt Norten

You ans 200 others. What’s so unique about your idea?

      • Derek

I feel that without knowing the limitations of manufacturing and without actually taking the trip, I have no idea what is possible and what I will draw inspiration from. I cannot say for certain anything that I could/would do to sum up my time without doing it. Bare minimum would be what was said in my previous comment.

      • Derek

I feel that without knowing the limitations of manufacturing and without actually taking the trip, I have no idea what is possible and what I will draw inspiration from. I cannot say for certain that I could/would do to sum up my time without doing it. Bare minimum would be what I said in my previous comment.

        • Berndt Norten

          Fair enough.

  • Audun G. Kjørsvik

Freediving on the reefs in Thailand was so diverse and colorful. The colors of the pasific oceans could be cool to implement in a watch design 🙂

    • Berndt Norten

Is the pasific like the Pacific?

      • DanW94

        No, like the Asslantic.

        • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Doesn’t the Farctic spill out from the Asslantic?

          • DanW94

You’re correct, the Asslantic also takes it from the Bay of Bangal.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

            we’re adults

          • DanW94

            Debatable, prove it.

          • Berndt Norten

Do you remember that Skeletor character who used to drive Iamcalledryan crazy?

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Tell me more. I missed most of Skeletor’s tenure.

          • Berndt Norten

            Seriously?

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Yeah. I came on the scene a little over 2 years ago, I think. Missed most of the Skeletor nightmare. People talk about it like they’ve got PTSD.

          • Berndt Norten

Well, he was extraordinarily rude, brusque, abrasive and hostile. Everything I strive not to be.

He was immature, caustic, aggressive, with no sense of humour.

And he lacked a command of the English language, which may have made him appear more brusque than he intended. He was fixated on Grand Seiko. He badgered Ryan and a few others. He was anti-Swiss and was terminated by the Swiss deep state.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I went through some old threads and H.O. Dinkee claimed to be Skeletor incarnate. And I was more sure than not that Trevor was Dinkee, so…

          • Berndt Norten

I’m convinced there’s a mad genius among us with half a dozen accounts.

Me, like the title of Regis Philbin’s autobiography, ‘I’m Just One Man’

I am the great Berndtholio! (I need piccata)

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

There are some guys who use very similar language and it makes you wonder if there’s just one dude with 20 accounts.

          • Berndt Norten

Goodnight, John Boy. Hold the fort; the barbarians are at the gate

          • Berndt Norten

I’m an adult now, whoah -oh-oh-oh-oh

        • Berndt Norten

          Letterman’s dick assman?

  • Peter Van de Laar

I would create an artboard of the pictures created there and find overlapping styles and colors that got my attention during the trip. Combine that with my multimedia experience and I guarantee that undone will UNDO their statement saying this watch will be one of a kind by expanding their line-up!

    • Berndt Norten

Translate please. I’m not following you. Do you mean you’d turn it into a smart watch?

  • Very cool contest this month!

    • Berndt Norten

How so? Let us count the ways…

  • Heather M.

I would love to use inspiration from some of the temples and historical buildings to influence the lines, colors and design of my watch.

    • Berndt Norten

Couldn’t you do that closer to home?

  • Olaf

Very cool! Would very much like to visit Hong Kong. The watch would be a great souvenir indeed!

    • Berndt Norten

      Original!

  • Daniel D.

It would have to be a city skyline engraved on the back for me.

    • Berndt Norten

BUT WHICH CITY.!? Don’t leave us hanging!

  • Demonix

HK a modern vibrant city under the boots of an oppressive communist regime since 1997.My watch design would have a modern edge symbolising freedom and creativity, maybe incorporating the red star motif of the ever present state in the watch face or on the case back. Will just have to remember not to irritate the mainland neighbors if I win, lol

  • mojomarc

I love Hong Kong, and i love fume dials!

    • Berndt Norten

Well there you have it! Our winner! Contest is over, folks.

  • adnan ali

A trip to hong kong would be great! I would have my name written in italics with the date of trip and make it look like a pilots watch.

  • James Scherber

Lovely timepieces! I hear Hong Kong is pretty amazing also.

    • Berndt Norten

You’re the first to think of that!

  • trainman

Wow that is awesome! Trip to Hong Kong would be unforgettable. I guess the ultimate way to put your memory onto a watch would be a unique pictorial engraving on the caseback.

    • Berndt Norten

Yes, but we need a precise image. Can you share?

  • cassfan3

I think I’d prefer the watch to remind me of the mood or feelings of a trip rather than something overt like a clear symbol on the dial. A sterile dial with multiple metal textures would reflect a “city trip”. On the other hand a field watch with perhaps a wood element would represent a trip to, say, Yosemite or the like.

    • Berndt Norten

Would HK make some feel claustrophobic?

    • Berndt Norten

See Ralph Lauren. He’s into wood.

  • Daniel Katz

Raymond: focus on a compliment I gave you
Before or after my offhand statement
    Cheers

    • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Don’t worry. He has the attention span of a golden retriever. You’re in the clear.

  • Justin

Probably something on the caseback or integrated into the movement so it wouldn’t be visible to everyone

    • Berndt Norten

Then what would be the point?

  • Laurent Liu

I think that the best way to incorporate a memory from a trip into a personalized watch design is to engrave on the caseback Undone, ABTW and the winner’s initials to be memorable and meaningful.
And why not the winner’s initials next to Undone on the dial so we know at first glance that this is a special edition.
Anyway, I really love Undone’s watch design, looks so clean and elegant 🙂

    • Berndt Norten

So, you’d be LL Cool Liu ?

  • Trevor Hirst

I think the ideas of having coordinates engraved or the alignment of the stars is awesome. My friend had the sky chart engraved on a pendant for when he asked his now wife to marry him. I’m stealing that idea for myself

    • Berndt Norten

Well you just shared it with a few thousand people!

  • Tracy Davis

It would have to be Palm Trees engraved on the back for me for our recent trip to Maui.

    • Berndt Norten

      Why? You don’t elaborate?

  • Julia Lam

    Sign me up! ?

    • Berndt Norten

      Laconic

  • apwinter

Great contest. I would want something understanding. Engraved on the case back or bracelet clasp. Find the right watch that really speaks for itself and keeps the memory alive.

  • apwinter

Great contest. I would want something understated. Maybe a simple engraving on the case back or the bracelet clasp. Find a watch that really speaks to the location and let it be the memory of the trip.

    • Berndt Norten

Maybe you could design it at home?

    • Berndt Norten

That’s too vague. We’re looking for more details

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

    Yes. Want.

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

you give and I no kill

    • Berndt Norten

      PETA supporter?

    • Berndt Norten

Come on, help me out here. I’m the one driving 100, out in front of you. You can speed a bit.

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Listen here, Kravitz. The Lord has told me to lay off the punters. He’s given me a special exception to go after Raymondo.

        • Berndt Norten

Oh I see. Well class, is he right? I mean where was he when I WAS IN THE RUCE PADDIES FIGHTING CHARLIE.??? Say it! Say it!

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

            Now that’s Marine Biology!

          • Berndt Norten

You a playa! And you get MUCH respect

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

It’s the only shoe that fits. I can’t imagine I’ll grow out of it.

            Shucks!

        • Berndt Norten

          Where’s my old wingman Mark1884?

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

He got into it with Bredan and I haven’t seen him much since.

  • sanjin p

It would be great if the Hong Kong emblem would be engraved on the back, and for the dial I would try to capture my impression of that fabulous trip either through colour or style, or both.

    • Berndt Norten

      Which trip?

  • Maybe a sky blue colour scheme for the time I went skydiving.

    • Berndt Norten

But if you went swimming once might that pose problems?

  • Andre Lo

I would like to incorporate a symbolic colour scheme, such as a colour of a country’s flag, into the strap of the watch. Or source a leather strap from a local leather maker during the trip

    • Berndt Norten

      Which country might that be?

  • GKS

I would love to have a watch face that reminds me of seeing the 24 Hours of Le Mans race at night – the glowing brake discs at night were an incredible sight. I’m not sure how to incorporate that eerie, superhot glow, maybe some sort of lume?

  • Gary Aerne

I think incorporating the China wall on the back of the watch along with a great star burst color scheme would look awesome!!!

    • Berndt Norten

Right! Because you’ve been with Philip Bailey, walking on that Chinese wall? Oops, you’re in the ocean!

  • kibbyster

I would put something from colorado. maybe white numbers for snow. or a black white contrast.

    • Berndt Norten

What about Montana? Is that fair to favour Colorado? Think of poor Utah!

  • steve

I really like the dial on these.

    • Berndt Norten

      Wow!

  • SG3

Fusia dial with red print plus yellow hands to represent HK’s national flower the Bauhinia Blakeana.

    • Berndt Norten

You’re at l east the fifth person to say that. you’ll have to try again

  • Marcus Fischer

Following my preferences I would prefer a decent design. In case of a Hong Kong Trip I would reduce it to a bold, darker red dial (why not int he style of the Undone Urban Mystique) with small signet showing a iconized junk before a HK-skyline. On the backside the name of Hong Kong in Chinese characters + date. Done. 😉

    • Berndt Norten

And would Herve Villechaize be up on the mast?

  • Douglas Weedman

I would get something to remind me of the typhoon in 1982 when I was visiting Hong Kong the first time.

    • Berndt Norten

      What? Some detritus?

  • Goli Razaghi

I would put the Hong Kong skyline outline as the dial background.

    • Berndt Norten

      You and a thousand others

  • Edwin Ip

HK is famous for food, the Chinese auspicious mascot is a dragon, incorporating one of these on the back as a design would be reminiscing the occasion.

    • Berndt Norten

You could put a small LED in there to simulate the warmth of your dragon’s breath!

  • Patrick Kennedy

Yes being involved in a watch design , especially a one off thing i would incorporate certain things from my country Zimbabwe . For example we have the Vic falls here , the national emblem ( the fish eagle) , the Zimbabwe ruins , the kariba dam just to name a few . I would also prefer this watch to be automatic – self-winding ,with pale green luminous strips on the Hour , Minute and Second arms . I would prefer a black and blue combination face set in a white gold case about 40 to45 mm diameter with a silver gold accompaning bracelet .

    • Berndt Norten

Wouldn’t it be a good time to commemorate your former fearless leader?

  • mark montgomery

I’d visit first to get a sense of the place and particularly the topographical contours. I’d then incorporate both the lines and the gradations of color from the mountainscape into every aspect of the watch, from crown to dial. This would be beautiful in Hong Kong.

    • Berndt Norten

Easier said than done. Have you got drawings?

  • Bizzarrini

HK is my favorite city ever! I’ve been to many of the small camera and watch shops, hunting for some nice vintage items. I’d definitely incorporate a clean but vintage look in my watch design!

    • Berndt Norten

So why should you win the trip if you have been there several times?

      • Bizzarrini

Jeez got nothing better to do?

        • Berndt Norten

I’m having a grand old time

          • Bizzarrini

            Sad…

          • Berndt Norten

Yes the brazen grovelling represents consumerism at its worst. And the narcissism on display. And let’s not forget the atrocious grammar and general small mindedness. Sad indeed.

          • Bizzarrini

            Get a life…

          • Berndt Norten

            This ain’t a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain’t gonna be just a face in the crowd
            You’re gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
            It’s my life
            It’s now or never
            I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
            (It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
            Like Frankie said
            I did it my way
I just want to live while I’m alive
            It’s my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
It’s for Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow’s getting harder, make no mistake
            Luck ain’t enough
You’ve got to make your own breaks
            It’s my life
            And it’s now or never
            I ain’t gonna live forever
I just want to live while I’m alive
            (It’s my life)
My heart is like an open highway
            Like Frankie said
            I did it my way
            I just…

          • Bizzarrini

            How original…

  • Louis Chong

I’m more desired to visit Undone factory and experience making one of a kind Undone watches which will be extraordinary fruitful trip……. The rest will be bonus.

    • Berndt Norten

      Especially if Cheech comes along

      • Bob Sebastian

But if Cheech comes they could go to Pomona and have the same experience.

  • GMTmin5

I would try to incorporate the colorful skyline into my design.

    Awesome opportunity!

  • Bob Sebastian

I would be so thrilled to win this experience. My custom watch would feature a bas relief profile of Berndt Norten to commemorate his witty repartee. And on the back I would have engraved my favorite comment from my favorite troll. I would treasure this timepiece.

    • Berndt Norten

      Good answer!

  • DocSanti

Hong Kong is a great place ! I would incorporate a mother of pearl dial to remember my trip there always ! Since Hong Kong is truly a pearl of the orient !

    • Berndt Norten

Or maybe an image of Eddie Vedder?

      • Fady337

        ScoopY doos image works best.

        • Berndt Norten

          Thanks Shaggy

  • Martin Chiu

I would have a customised case back as a memory of a trip I made for a watch.

    • Berndt Norten

That’s too detailed. You need to simplify. The judges don’t have time to read all that.

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I would like to thank all of you for coming. You really add a lot to the community. Less than you think, sorry, more than you’d ever know. We would be undone without the web traffic you bring at the beginning of every month. Regards.

  • Solloshi B. Hawkins

I would want an engraving of the whole skyline, the initials of every person I meet there, and a couple of bazinga flowers too!

    • Berndt Norten

      You lose!

  • Aliasger Taj

i would like to visit HK and see with my own eye the paradise of watch loveer…

    • Berndt Norten

Alas, I hold the keys to paradise
And you gots to pay da price

  • Andrew Smith

I got engaged at the end of last year in London, I think it would be cool to incorporate that memory somehow into a design, it was at the winter wonderland in Hyde Park at the top of the ferris wheel. Maybe a ferris wheel engraved on the caseback with the date on the dial!

    • Berndt Norten

You could engrave ‘ME’ on it?

  • China Pink

My dream watch – and the strap I would make for it – would incorporate both the colours and textures that my trip allowed me to experience.

    • Berndt Norten

      I’m speechless

      • China Pink

That is possibly a good thing. Unless of course you have something of substance to share – if that is the case, please give an example as you haven’t thus far.

        • Berndt Norten

          I’m trying, Ringo, I’m trying.

          • China Pink

Please substitute the word “relevance” for “substance” in my post. Either way, you have yet to produce anything remotely intelligent. But, do keep on trying. Unfortunately I have no idea who Kane is.

          • Berndt Norten

I is da gatekeeper of time
            You wants to win it?
            Gets in line

          • China Pink

Dear gott. “da” idiotspeak used by fools. If you are the gatekeeper of anything, it is the dungeon of imbeciles, lacking in taste, style and most certainly decorum. Go buy a Michael Kors – that is clearly what you are best suited to.

          • Berndt Norten

A golden mind stoops not to dross
Admit it, Pinkie, I is da boss

          • Finster Grinsen

            Jules Winfield, you are not.

          • Berndt Norten

Yeah. And I knew Jack Kennedy. Mister Finster, you’re no Jack Kennedy?

          • Finster Grinsen

Alas, I have been likened to Dan Quayle! This was not your first ‘88 presidential election reference today. A history buff, perhaps?

          • Berndt Norten

I’ve read your posts. Where’s the beef?

          • Finster Grinsen

            Have it your way…

          • Berndt Norten

I’ll hold your lettuce but that’s where it stops.

          • Berndt Norten

            BILL. u.R

  • Johan Amtell

I would incorporate the Great Barrier Reef when it comes to smaller structural details in the dial in forms of coral with an inscription on the case back. The Hands would shimmer in the ocean blue color that is the Great Barrier Reef.

    • Berndt Norten

      Fair dinkum

  • François Flürk

If I’m being honest, the cool thing would be the display of a second timezone 🙂
But a simple depiction of a skyline, or a discreet symbol of a place I’ve been, engraved on the caseback would be great too.

    • Berndt Norten

And if you are being dishonest what comes to mind?

  • MeMe

I ruined a trip to Portugal because I was so sick with Lupus and my husband didn’t get to have an true experience because he stayed by my side the whole entire side. I would love to incorporate this watch and that Portugal trip together with a bunch of photos we have, I don’t know maybe put them on the band or somehow a skin or face plate. It would be awesome I am sure I could come up with an idea.

  • Bill Smith

I will remember my trip to Las Vegas with this personalized watch. The bezel and band are made of solid 18k gold. The rectangular face is framed with round, white, diamonds (5 ctw). The dial is covered in green felt, silkscreened with full color details of an authentic Vegas-style craps table. The hour and minute hands appear as black $100 casino chips (one large, the other small) in place for a bet, while the sweeping second hand looks like 2 red dice (the number 5, and number 2) which have just been tossed.

    • Berndt Norten

      Wouldn’t bet on it.

  • tweetyscute

I would add an Iconic landmark symbol if possible to the design,

  • Playboy Johnny

I would love to win this contest, and go to HK. My watch would have the HK skyline laser engraved onto the caseback….. no, somebody probably said that already. I would have the colors of HK on the watch dial….. no probably already done. I would have a HK flower acid etched on the caseback…. no not that.
I would have some guy on acid, engrave an egg roll on the caseback, with the words “eat me” below it! I do love me some Chinese.
    Did I win yet?

    • Berndt Norten

      Yes! You’re the winner!

      • Playboy Johnny

When do I leave and get my watch?

        • Berndt Norten

          You leave at dawn.

          • Playboy Johnny

I will begin to pack now. Do I get picked up?

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

Pants? Where you’re going you won’t need pants.

          • Berndt Norten

            Let off some steam, Bennett.

          • Jon Snow

            I like you, Sonny, you’re a funny guy…

          • Berndt Norten

Hey, Matrix, it’s Sully! Now put me down!

          • Berndt Norten

Yes. Your chaperone on the plane will be John Matrix.

          • Playboy Johnny

Thank you! I am very happy to be the winner. I will look for Mr. Matrix

          • Berndt Norten

Get some rest, otherwise you’ll be dead tired on the plane.

        • Solloshi B. Hawkins

          After your ethics investigation.

          • DanW94

He categorically denies any relationship of a sexual nature with that intern. Oh, and he wasn’t involved with the Russians on any level. His e-mail must have been hacked.

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

“Wanna see my caucus?” <—not sexual

          • Berndt Norten

You say you’s from da Caucasus

          Stroke me, stroke me
Say you’re a winner but babe, you’re just a sinner now

  • Nixa

I’d incorporate the colors of the flag of the country I visited, a monument, a name, maybe a date, a picture… it all depends on the destination.

    • Berndt Norten

Destination unknown? Return to sender. No such home.

      • Fady337

Have you been working as postman ?

        • Berndt Norten

I’ve been working on the railroad

  • LLd

If I win, I would love to represent and be reminded of the Philippines in a gold watch.
Probably an engraved PH map on the caseback. An exhibition caseback will be great, though.
Then I’d have a white dial. Put a sun (with eight rays) in place of the 12 o’clock marker. Blued hour hand. Red minute hand. Gold seconds hand (sub-seconds dial would be great).
Not sure how it would look with all those colors, though. :))

    • Berndt Norten

      Why not Peru?

  • JF Beaulieu

I’d incorporate the image or name of a landmark but discreetly.

    • Berndt Norten

Would I be able to read it, say, one meter away?

      • Fady337

        Are you new here ?

        • Berndt Norten

Just signed up for this giveaway

          • Solloshi B. Hawkins

            Hey! Me too!

  • Susan Turner

I took a trip to Alaska so I would have a platinum case with a white face and blue numbers. the white is for all the snow that I saw. and the blue was for the glaciers color. this would be a mans watch 42mm or bigger.

    • Berndt Norten

Had you never seen snow before?

      • Fady337

That snow memory is more attached to the trip I guess. That’s why.

        • Berndt Norten

          Susan’s Sense of Snow

        • Berndt Norten

          Hey, let her speak!

  • ChinoStyles1

I would try to get some of the colors of the local foliage in the watch in some soft of fashion

    • Berndt Norten

      Soft cell?

  • RandyTorres

I’m not creative enough to incorporate a memory from a trip into a personalized watch design. Perhaps a free trip to Hong Kong would provide some inspiration.

    • Berndt Norten

      Good one. I like that.

  • jbiadog

I enjoyed your articles and views about timepieces Ariel Adams. Please bring me to HK lets explore watch world inside out jbiadog@yahoo.com

    • Berndt Norten

Well! There’s an offer he can’t refuse!

    • Playboy Johnny

Sorry, I have been informed that I am the winner. Mr. Matrix and I are at the airport now.

      • Berndt Norten

There is a catch. Before you receive the watch you must take a few days and listen to the entire oeuvre of Johnny Hallyday. If you can survive that, you deserve to win.

  • Rajvind Jude Dhaliwal

Great stuff, this would be an extremely awesome trip with aBlogtoWatch to HongKong!
I would definitely get the silhouette of the Hong Kong skyline at Victoria Harbour etched into the watch. That would be a great reminder of the trip! So when do we go?!

    • Berndt Norten

Don’t pack your suitcase just yet

      • Tornyi Barnabás az isten

…but start stacking up on condoms.

      • IG

…but start stacking up on condoms.

  • UofASouthpaw

As an avid photography hobbyist I would want to incorporate my own photos of the trip into the watch. I would design the case back as a dual-pane crystal back, with the outer pane hinged so I could open it up, insert a cutout of a photo I took, and switch it out for another photo cutout whenever it suits my fancy.

    • Berndt Norten

It’s all about you. I bet you never shared your toys.

      • UofASouthpaw

Hah! Who else would a personalized watch that you design yourself and are instructed to incorporate your own memory into be all about? Hey, at least I didn’t say that my personal touch would be the main focal point, or even on the front side at all.

        • Berndt Norten

Good response! You put me in my place.

        • Berndt Norten

          Good counterpunch!

  • Bryan

I would put a memorable item on the face of the watch, and also match the colour of the face to the colour most distinct in my memory.

    • Berndt Norten

      Don’t leave us hanging–which color?

  • 0059mike

i’d do something to remember the trip by, likely a blue base colour and any engraving possible on the back, such as the date of the trip.

    • Berndt Norten

      I think Bofill is hiring.

  • Curt Thompson

I’m pretty sure that getting a watch on a trip would be plenty memorable itself, but an engraving is something I’d also consider

    • Berndt Norten

      Consider the lobster

  • BrandonS

I would incorporate the design aesthetic of the locale visited

    • Berndt Norten

      Like Gaudi?

  • Marcell Copeland

Sure I’ll give it a shot. Who knows I might even win the Grand Prize

    • Berndt Norten

      Probably not

  • Tanis

I liked the look of the glass back option on the models on the Urban website, so I’d have something subtle engraved on the dial. Or, if there are options for the glass on the back, find out about what could be incorporated in glass on the back. Good luck, everyone! Five potential chances to win!

    • Berndt Norten

No just four. we reserved a trip just for you!

  • shanekleinpeter

I think one of the most obvious ways would be to incorporate the design of a clock that you saw while traveling. Perhaps a style prevalent in a location; an example of which is the Mondaine watch designed after the clocks in Swiss train stations.

    • Berndt Norten

      Mondaine….Hong Kong. A clear connection

  • cvguild

Hong Kong is rich in history and symbolism, that coupled with the fact that 2018 is the year of the dog, I think there will be no shortage of influencers.

    • Berndt Norten

      Ah, right, that makes sense

  • Zoltan Sekeres

    Zoltan Szekeres.
i would really like the vintage undone watch. I thinks its design is spot on !

    • Berndt Norten

You’re not a native English speaker and yet you used ‘its’ properly (no apostrophe). We’ve got Scots and Englishmen who can’t do that. Congratulations

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        No name’s provided. You’r a cheeky f#cker. Much to cheeky i reckon .

        • Berndt Norten

          Please help me I’m falling…

  • Sam Ward

I would incorporate a sketch of the skyline on the back.

    • Berndt Norten

      You and a thousand others

  • schnoodle

I would take a coin and use it as the watch face

    • Berndt Norten

      Which currency?

      • DanW94

        Bitcoins.

      • Solloshi B. Hawkins

        Viet Dong

  • Niño Larry Manal

My recent trips in Japan and Las Vegas remind me how rich the culture of both places and how it impacted not just my memories of both trips but also my preference on watches. Japan being known for advanced technology would be like the smart watches nowadays while Las Vegas known for casinos would be like the classic and high end watches. When you get to experience both diverse cultural trips, one gets to be more particular in the intricasies of a watch and ensure that it is personalized according to your lifestyle, preferences and uniqueness.

    • Berndt Norten

Japan + Vegas = Hong Kong!

  • Tim

I’d design a timepiece to my liking, however I’d have a subtle engraving of the date and location in-between the lugs. Any time I’d change the strap, I’d see this engraving and have fond memories of the trip!

    • Berndt Norten

Wow! You might see it a few times per year!

  • Won Matt

i would design my memory for trip to be in hong kong. this timepiece should be a piece of the journey that you had went to and represent the experiences encountered. from the picture, i get a sense of a modern, vibrant and gentle sophistication that i would love to be incorporated in the watch. the aspect to be able to custom the watch would be based off of this thinking and the feeling at the time.

    • Berndt Norten

Gentle sophistication is always preferred over the opposite, which is….?!

  • Chris Andrew

I’d opt for a dial with Chinese numerals as hour markers. Personally, I think it would look rather good!

    • Berndt Norten

      Impersonally, would it work?

      • Chris Andrew

Interpersonally, bringing cultures together … 😉

        • Berndt Norten

          Touché! Good one!

  • Mikko

I would go with an engraving of the skyline of the place I’d want to commemorate in the caseback, and some subtle hint of the place in question in the dial. Letter, symbol or such.

    • Berndt Norten

Just one letter! That would be subtle. Only you would know! Think of the questions it would generate at a cocktail party!

  • Gabi Balas-Baconschi

I think that engraving the solar system with planets arrangement at that special moment can be a wonderful memory. Also the date of the trip. I love very much this watch, it reminds me of the vintage chronos with Landeron movement inside. I would love to have a special watch for me with left and right subdials arramgement (instead of up and down). The green dial is absolutely amazing.
A visit to Undone ? this can be one of the best memory for a watch enthusiast.
Thanks to Ariel for another great giveaway, and good luck to everyone.

    • Berndt Norten

      Good one, BILL

  • Tobi Tool

As the USA is my favourite country to travel to, I would design a dial with some vintage stars and stripes motive. This will always remind me of great times in America.

    • Berndt Norten

Motif? Actually why don’t you put yacob smirnoff, or however you spell his name, on the dial?

  • Finster Grinsen

If I purchased the watch on a memorable trip, I wouldn’t need personalization to spark nostalgia. If anything, an engraved case back would be a nice way to go about it.

    • Berndt Norten

Ah, but if the engraving mentions you, it’s been personalized!

      • Finster Grinsen

        “Hong Kong, Finster was here”

        …nah…

        • Berndt Norten

          Don’t quit your day job

          • Finster Grinsen

I work nights, in fact, for just such an occasion.

          • Berndt Norten

Carefully or I’ll definster you. In Prague.

  • Tom Wisdom

I would either get an engraving of a star ferry on the caseback to commemorate this trip to Hong Kong or engraving of the Vietnamese symbol of good luck to commemorate a trip i took to Vietnam last year and to give myself some good luck as a bonus.

    • Berndt Norten

Seen the film ‘Wisdom’? Didn’t thespian Emilio Estevez ‘star’ in that?

  • bert gillespie

Great giveaway idea! In general etched on the back. As for my customized Undone lume in country colors at the quarter pips.

    • Berndt Norten

      Right! That makes eminent sense.

      • DanW94

        It’s an eminence front.

        • Berndt Norten

          It’s a put-on

  • Stephan Chan

The watch should be in rose gold case, red dial and with a red caseback engrave with white, five-petal Hong Kong orchid tree (Bauhinia blakeana) flower in the centre of a red field, much like the Hong Kong flag.

    • Berndt Norten

      Original.

  • Harplayr

I would incorporate some of the vibrant colors found in that part of the world into a custom watch design.

    • Berndt Norten

Ok, but can you be more specific?

      • DanW94

All the colors of the rainbow, like a pack of skittles….

        • Berndt Norten

          Thanks Donny Boy

      • Harplayr

When I think of Hong Kong my mind sees a vibrant pallet with bright reds and yellow gold, having red and gold accents on the face with a deep black background would remind me of Hong Kong at night.

        • Berndt Norten

          Thank you

  • Brian Bezel

I would put on the case back the white five petal orchid flower
[Bauhinia blakeana] which is the symbol of Hong Kong.

    • Berndt Norten

      What sort of bezel, Brian?

      • Brian Bezel

A Red ceramic bezel with a white dial or indices which would maintain the Hong Kong symbol theme.

        • Berndt Norten

          Good stuff

          • Brian Bezel

            Thanks

  • stumpelriltzchen

I would take inspiration from the city and put something appropriate on the case back. I have a distinct recollection of the small ships in HK that carry people from one part to another (but this is many years ago).

    • Berndt Norten

      Don’t pay the ferryman

      • DanW94

Until he gets you to the other side….

  • Rob Taylor

Grew up as a child in Hong Kong, would be a dream come true to see the place now as a pensioner

    • Berndt Norten

Is your avatar is your mug shot, I’d say someone of your vintage growing up in HK was born the son of a preacher man?

  • Asif Tebani

HONG KONG a global financial hub with a skyscraper-studded skyline. Central (the business district) features architectural landmarks like I.M. Pei’s Bank of China Tower. Hong Kong is also a major shopping destination, famed for bespoke tailors and Temple Street Night Market.with so many watches to see buy and give gifts ,,really a lovely place to visit ..

    • Berndt Norten

Well, this is detailed, and that’s good. But it’s merely descriptive. What would you prescribe?

  • Vxnt Hsu

I would put “ABTW” in Chinese brush style in solid case back as represented this memorable gift and the trip to Hong Kong.

    • Berndt Norten

That’s good. I like that. Why did it take hundreds of people before someone made this good suggestion?

  • Ian

Watches or watch accessories are a great way to capture memories of a special time, place, or event. Different personalizations are better than others depending on what the wearer is trying capture.

To capture a special time or event, an engraving on the case back would be perfect.

To capture the memory of a special place, maybe a watch from the location would be ideal. Maybe a watch strap of local textiles i.e. kangaroo leather.

One might want to capture that memory with colors of the experience, such as a blue and white combo for a trip to Greece.

A fellow watch-hound friend has a great tradition. He always gets a new strap for one of his watches before he goes on vacation. He wears it while on that vacation and captures those memories with it on his wrist. Anytime he wears one of them he is taken back to that trip. I’ve always thought that was a really cool idea.

    • Berndt Norten

Paragraph One is vague, banal. It gets better as the novel progresses. By the end of the book, we have come to love the protagonist

      • Ian

        “Watches for Algernon”

        • Berndt Norten

          How flowery!

  • George T

Personally I would incorporate a five petal shape glass caseback or even a five petal crown. I think it would really be a memorable watch.

    • Berndt Norten

If you did it impersonally would it be different?

  • Korrey6

I realy like the clean dial, so I would not change anythink abut that. But I would go for panorama of the city engraved on the caseback and of course my and Ariel´s name.

    • Berndt Norten

Yes, don’t forget Ariel. He’ll likely decline out of modesty

  • Berndt Norten

This comment is the one after 909

  • Lance Litwin

I would likely try to add something to the dial to remind me of Hong Kong, and the trip to make the watch, or perhaps something on the caseback, like the HK Flag, or something.

    • Berndt Norten

      Or something.

  • Berndt Norten

I will put an image of Johnny Hallyday on the dial.

  • caye74

I would keep it simple, just take Killy Fixed design and add Hong Kong (??) on the left side of the dial

    • Berndt Norten

Could you make room for Johnny Hallyday?

  • kukkuk

I think I would go for applied gold chinese numerals and ask for a fumée dial in black with grey undertones.
I doubt I would confuse with any other watch I have, or have seen.

    • Berndt Norten

      Somewhat interesting

  • Tachibana Syuta

I would keep it simple in the front but perhaps incorporate a picture of loved ones at the back of the watch.

    • Berndt Norten

Wow, the first person, among hundreds to speak of ‘loved ones’. You win!

  • freaky

I would love to see Hong Kong!!!

    • Berndt Norten

      and…?

      • freaky

And make some shopping…and it would be the first time I leave Italy…

        • Berndt Norten

          Va bene

  • H F

It doesn’t get any better than enamel scene.

    • Berndt Norten

how about the rave scene, Miami Beach, c. 2000?

  • les

Having been to Honkers numerous times [there is a Segway here], I would do the time numerals in Cantonese.

    • Berndt Norten

Why didn’t that occur to me! I coulda had a V8!

  • Uriar

Wow this is some awesome giveaway!

I love visiting new places in our amazing planet and an exciting and exotic place will surly leave it’s impressions, and if (please please please) I will get to the designing watch part, I will find a way to make this watch a reminder of the tastes of Hong Kong.

    Thanks!

    • Berndt Norten

      surly you jest!

      • Uriar

        I jest you not

        • Berndt Norten

No fair, you corrected your typo

          • Uriar

Surely you know life is not fair. Don’t be surly about it.

          • Berndt Norten

You a player! You get my vote!

  • Randy Bradford

Of course I would greatly enjoy seeing Hong Kong. I enjoy the vintage look in a watch. As far as a reminder of my trip maybe a couple of small dragons imprinted in the band.

    • Berndt Norten

or another cliché regarding ‘the Orient’?

  • Nick D.

I never thought of a watch as a “trip memento”. Given the opportunity, I would probably do something really subtle, like a simple engraving on the caseback. I would definitely prefer to remember a place or vacation by purchasing a local micro-brand watch, if one exists!

    • Berndt Norten

But remember, this one is about Undone. And…one ‘does exist’!

    • Berndt Norten

Iceland has a good micro-brand. Considered visiting?

  • Maxtor

Hong Kong is a pearl in the ocean. I would go for a blue dial to remind me of the trip.

    • Berndt Norten

Well, wait for the ice shelfs of Antarctica to break off and yes, it will indeed be a ‘pearl in the ocean.’

  • Jc Sioson

This is a great promotion, not only do you get a chance to travel and see Asia’s premier watch shopping destination but you also have a chance to win an exclusive watch. To remind me of a memorable trip I had to Tokyo, I would have the back of the watch engraved with the Shinkansen speeding across the plains with Mt. Fuji on the horizon. As the efficiency and flawless execution of the bullet train always reminds me of the precision of a great watch. Then I would like to have a pearl blue dial to symbolize the passing skies as you view it from the inside window of the Shinkansen.

    • Berndt Norten

Faster than you can say ‘no’…. the answer is….

  • DBA53

I would have the watch designed with the 2018, 30-gram Chinese Gold Panda coin as the face plate behind the clear crystal.

    • Berndt Norten

      Sacrilège!

  • Matthew Mark Horn

An incredible opportunity not only to visit Hong Kong but also to custom design an Undone watch! I would create an ombré style dial reminiscent of the Hong Kong harbor skyline lit up at night! Truly an incredible opportunity that I will be honored to win!

    • Berndt Norten

Alas, the honour will be bestowed upon someone else.

  • Hevil

It would be amazing! Nothing more to say!

    • Berndt Norten

      Nothing ventured nothing gained.

  • Le_Frenchie_J

My first “real” overseas trip when I was young (i.e. without parents) was with my brother where we visited both Tokyo and Hong Kong together. This was a time where smartphones didn’t exist, so armed with a map and guidebook we set out for a big culture shock and made so many fun memories together in both cities.

To illustrate this in the watch design, I would:
    1) Use the standard custom aqua to represent my youth and wanderlust

    2) Have a watch made by Undone representing Hong Kong
    3) Have orange in the design in orange to represent Japan (land of the rising sun)
Hope i’ll have the opportunity to go back to HK and have the custom watch made (and maybe a couple of suits as well!)

    • Berndt Norten

Wouldn’t you use red for Japan? I mean, dude, look at the flag!

  • Peter Weir

The rugged utility and strong wrist presence of the Aqua diver watch, or the discreet elegance of the Urban chronograph — I just cannot choose. And their hundreds of possible customization combinations don’t make the choice any easier. Aaargh !

    • Berndt Norten

Not to worry, you almost certainly won’t have to choose.

  • Vinny B

I’ve been to Italy a few times. I’ve also seen a few of Italian made classics from back in the 1960s. The simplicity and the beauty of those old Italian watches is fantastic. I would love to incorporate an elegant and classic look…when I close my eyes I would envision Marcello Mastroianni cool spliced with a Panerai. 🙂

  • bastien koert

I’ve seen a few watches using skylines in the face. I could see that on a watch for a really cool place i’ve been

  • Jameson

I would take the same styling from St. Peter’s church in Zurich and incorporate it into the watch with the roman numerals and band on the outer edge of the clock underneath the numerals.

  • Gabriele Fiera

I’d incorporate an image of the sea, metaphor of the infinity of time.

  • Ire Ben

I really adore the stylised yellow sun on red field of the flag of Macedonia, I’d love to see it incorporated in my watch 🙂

  • Benoit

I’d like to see the pointer with a special shape, remembering the city, like a famous skyscraper.

  • Chris

I’d love to have a memory from my year long trip incorporated. I think something as simple as finding a way to incorporate salt from the bolivian salt flats, or some olive wood from Croatia.

  • Rodney Stone

On the rear of the watch i would have a engraving of the Hong Kong Watch Tower

  • Daryl

I would take a piece of lava rock from Hawaii & use it was the watch face.

  • Jarred Edgecombe

Unfortunately, I’m not creative, so it would be very hard. Since Hong Kong has a lot of lights, maybe some sort of iridescent colors in the watch face.

  • Dennis Joseph

Had a magical time in Singapore and Hong Kong a couple of years ago for the F1 race. Stayed at the amazing Marina Bay Sands hotel and went to the Singapore Gardens By The Bay at night. I think a night image of either one of those would be great as a watch background.

  • hatster

It would have to be incorporated into the second hand design. Imagine a fade of the colours from the national flag of the country of your choice – in my case, Sri Lanka. The second hand would fade between the colors, giving you a small but subtle reminder of that memorable trip.

  • Brad B

It would be an Alpine face with a gunmetal hand reminding me of taking the gondolas up Mt Blanc in Chamonix, France. Peering behind me to the tip of the Matterhorn in Switzerland and the French Alps to my front. Beautiful!

  • Oscar Edelshein

I would want an engraving of the whole skyline and put on the case back the white five petal orchid flower

  • Abigail Gibson

I would like to see a watch put coins representing each country in the face.

  • Joshua Jones

It really depends on the trip. I’m a fan of something more just for the wearer. Like a custom rotor through display back, or the balance on the second hand having a specific symbol.

  • SamsterTheHamster

First off, I absolutely need to take a trip like this. I’ve had Hong Kong on my list of places to go since…forever? Maybe jump a quick flight to Tokyo too? Going Dutch of course. And, my wife would let me with no hesitation since I’ve spent the past four years doing a very difficult job. I’d bring as many cameras as I would watches.

As for my design, my semi-wide and bright lumed hour hand would have a small, but tasteful, airplane/aviation look to the tip. The minute hand would be as wide with intermittent lume, ideally looking like a runway, so when they overlap, it looks like the plane is landing on the minute hand during the day and especially at night. The second hand would stand out in a nice red or blue or something like that. All very subtle, all nods to travel, and not too obvious. As for the dial, I’d probably go with the Aqua, depending on which Undone design I’d get to work with, and I’d like it to have a 12/24 hour display on the bezel. The dial would have to be a blue/grey of some sort. Not sure about that yet. The back, simple, just the date etched onto the case of when my feet hit the ground.

  • Bong Estrella

I would add the map of the place i’ve visited to the see through caseback (i know undone can do it, i’ve seen it).

  • Darren Williams

This would create a new memory and vision or idea for the design feature of the watch

  • John

Would love to join and experience this!

  • Ahmad Ibrahim

    it would be rewarding experience

  • drThrillman

Besides the watch, the amateur photographer in me would love a trip to HK for long exposure dusk skyline shots. They are really beautiful. Personally I would like an engraving on the caseback of the HK flower to commemorate it along with some carefully chosen words.

  • Conservatarian TX

Amazing giveaway. I always consider as the better part of discretion, so I would maybe incorporate design elements from local architecture/landmarks into the hands, or something tasteful on the case back.

  • spynumber

I would have an engraved image of the Hong Kong flag on the caseback. with the month and year of the visit.

  • Cesar Augusto Guerios

    Hong Kong+Undone = luck , lets go

  • Goomaral

i would maybe have an airplane, and hong kong flag in the display. and on the case back i would have lucky charm.

  • Alfredo Rivera

I would add an inscription on the case back with the words “JAPAN A BLOG TO WATCH 2017” to remember not just the trip but the people that made it possible.

  • aannggee

I would get a tattoo on my wrist.

  • ChrisMc

I would make the face into a gold artisan created face like the other mystique line but gold.
    Yes sir

  • Alistair Salmon

I might just incorporate a proposal to my girlfriend to make it that extra special 🙂

  • markahaviland

Hong Kong probably one of the most urban fantasy areas for a photographer. Would be thrilled to go, and to meet the people there.

  • Jason Hackworth

I think the best way to incorporate a memory into a watch would be to use a material or design element that would be specific to the location — for Hong Kong it might be a steel element on the dial or striping that might mimic the skyline.

  • Eli Munger

I would love to see more reddish-purple dials on watches, so I would probably incorporate the color similar to a full bodied Syrah wine into the dial as a memento of my first New Zealand vintage. Hong Kong sounds awesome though, I might have to check it out regardless.

  • Windhund

It would be awesome to etch an impression of the Hong Kong skyline/skyscrapers in the dial of the watch. There are many inspiring pictures online.

  • TKoren

The best memories of any vacation for me is about living in the moment and enjoying all that that experience has to offer. So I would design a watch that fits any situation. Classy enough for a night out, bold and tough enough for any daytime adventure. Steel, beautiful black to grey sunburst face to match the cities energy with crisp clean numbers at the 12, 3, 6, 9, luminescent hands and markers, rotating bezel to mark time between the fun, at least 200m water resistance for swim time, GMT for traveling, and date between the four and five position. If in color maybe polished brass or gold with a rich blue or green face that sunburst from the center out. Make it so that it comes with two easy to change watch bands, steel and classy durable waterproof leather synthetic soft type of material.

  • Marvin

I would engrave the back of the watch with the location and date to incorporate a memory from a trip into a personalized watch design.

  • robert g

From my bucket vacation, i would try to create an African theme watch

  • Arik Gurevich

As not to mess with the watches aesthetics I would engrave the back of it with the simplest of writings.

By the way, love the way these watches look!

  • Michael_Walters

This is a great giveaway, what a way to make some memories.
