Hamilton Intra-matic 38mm Watch Review

Introduced at Baselworld 2012, the Hamilton Intra-matic was the follow-up to the Thin-O-matic and it took the “vintage inspired” trend a step further, into what I would call “modern vintage.” Aside from the movement and the flush mounted crystal, one could almost believe that the Intra-matic was NOS (new old stock), found in your Granddad’s drawer, minty and forgotten for over fifty years.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer Watch Hands-On

For 2012, Hamilton released a very nice limited edition piece in honor of the brand’s American history, the Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer. More specifically, it’s in honor of the 120th anniversary of the brand. What was really interesting is that in addition to the limited edition piece, they released a similar non-limited edition of the [...]

Hamilton Ventura XXL Watch In Men In Black III

A new limited edition version of the Hamilton Ventura XXL watch will be worn by major characters in the new Men In Black III (3) movie that will open this month. I believe that previous Men In Black (MIB) movies also featured other versions of the famous Ventura watch. This newest version is the Ventura [...]

Hamilton Jazzmaster Cushion Watch Review

For a solidly made Swiss watch at a price that won’t make most people’s heads spin around, Hamilton is one of the few good options…

Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol Watch

Ah, now here is a slide-rule bezel complication that I can use. I tend to make fun of these as I am not about to do long-division or calculate fuel consumption on a tiny slide-rule, if I need to figure that stuff out at all… But this one is actually handy. This new watch for [...]

Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer Watch

On many occasions I’ve mentioned that I pretty much only feel comfortable wearing a quartz movement based watch when that movement offers functionality you can’t find in a mechanical watch. Analog/digital watches such as this are a prime example. Offering the grace of analog time telling, the dials are enhanced with digital LCD screens that [...]

Hamilton Watches & Hollywood Movies

Logically speaking it should not matter to me whether or not a watch I like was worn by characters in movies. Though practically it does seem to matter. The reality is that seeing characters we enjoy watching in movies (or TV shows) wearing watches we like helps boost our perception of those watches and those [...]

The Harrison Ford Hamilton Watches

Why oh why can’t there be some cool cult watch made popular by being on Harrison Ford’s wrist in one of his movies? Seriously, not even Indiana Jones wore a timepiece. That is totally a character that would wear a watch! Something like a Hamilton military watch or similar… whoa! I am getting ahead of [...]

Hamilton Khaki Pilot 46mm Automatic Watch

[Ed. note - since I've seen Hamilton screw up designs before, I look closely at each new release to make sure they look 'proper.' This one is interesting, and actually feels retro in a fresh way. You'll have to love large applied metal numerals - and I sense the polish on them is "unique."] A [...]

Hamilton Pulsomatic Watch For 2010

I think that this will be a pretty well-received watch for 2010, and that a lot of people are going to dig this. Another of the many many “historical rereleases” we have been seeing lately. So, a long time ago Hamilton released the Pulsar. It was the first digital watch. This was in 1970, just [...]

Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic For 2009: Return Of A Classic, Again

If there was ever a watch that defined a brand it is the Khaki line for Hamilton. They have actually imparted the “Khaki” name on scores of watches, but the Field Khaki is the basic original military watch that started the trend. A popular watch for decades the original models were tiny by today’s comparisons [...]

Hamilton Seaview Automatic Diver Watch

What is different about this Hamilton Seaview Automatic Diver watch? I thought about this question for a little while before writing anything down. I know I have seen the nautical almost art deco themed font used for the numbering before. The font is sort of an amalgamation of everything ocean-worthy and futuristic from 1920 -1970. [...]

2009 Hamilton Ventura XXL Automatic Watch

It was only a matter of time before Hamilton decided it was time for a real rehash of the classic Ventura watch. This is not to be confused with now defunct Ventura watches. The Ventura watch model from Hamilton first came out in the age of pre-quartz electronic watches. When “electronic” watches meant something futuristic [...]

Hamilton Khaki Below Zero Chronograph

Experience With the Hamilton Khaki Below Zero Chronograph Watch Reveals A Fatal Flaw

One of the reasons that I like watches so much, is that I appreciate machines, or devices otherwise, that are well engineered to perform some task (well), no matter how simple. This is why we have love for sports cars, high-end audio and visual equipment, and countless other “devices;” because we appreciate the fact that [...]

Hamilton Below Zero Chronograph Diver Watch Freshens Up Below Zero Line

There was a lot of controversy over the three-handed Below Zero watch that Hamilton released within the last year. I spoke about it here, and suggested that it had a subtle art deco styling. A good deal of people disagreed, while many saw exactly what I was talking about. I didn’t realize a little bit [...]

Hamilton Below Zero Diver Watch: Art Deco Industrial Diving Instrument Design

Being an “entry level” nice watch from the Swatch Group, Hamilton has the budget to experiment a great deal with designs. The Hamilton logo itself is art deco in tone, and many vintage Hamilton watches exuded art deco design while the brand was still American owned. With the Below Zero Diver watch, I can see [...]
