The Electricianz debuted in 2017 with the concept of displaying and accentuating the electrical nature of their affordable quartz watches. Coming from the same people who brought you the SevenFriday phenomenon, it is little surprise the Electricianz’ watches are also generally large, bold, and youthful in their appeal. The new Electricianz S.NOW watch, in a bright colorway of white with bronze accents, is the sixth model from the still relatively young Swiss brand.

The Electricianz also released a slightly different watch called the Cable Z with wires on the dial but the Electricianz S.NOW watch closely follows the form of the brand’s debut product which we introduced here (where you can read more about the watches’ general characteristics). The Electricianz S.NOW has some new colors and now a lightning bolt above the 1X Flat Cell 1225 CR battery (3-year life) at 9 o’clock. This new model could also be seen as a thematic follow up to their all-black Blackout watch.

While the white case and the name might seem to suggest snow and winter, the Electricianz say that the S.NOW name stands for “summer now” and is actually meant to be a bright summery watch. That apparently contradictory branding is undoubtedly intentional, but let’s get back to the watches themselves. The brand also indicates that the Electricianz S.NOW’s color scheme is potentially feminine or unisex despite its 45mm nylon case (30m water resistance). If you’ve seen the Electricianz watches in person, they are about as equally imposing as the SevenFriday watches. Note that while the Electricianz S.NOW is shown in some of the pictures here in a bluish light, the colors are in fact white with silver and, of course, bronze.

A tall hardened mineral K1 crystal with anti-reflective coating will contribute to the case’s thickness but also the dial’s sense of depth. On the dial the battery and some “cables” along with a cutout to reveal a copper coil are displayed. The movement has an “ELZ InHouse Electric module” designed around a Miyota 2033 base. The cases are equipped with NFC chips for authentication. These are all features consistent with the other watches in the collection. Also as with the previous Electricianz watches, the pusher at 2 o’clock on the case activates LED lights to illuminate the dial.

The Electricianz watches are a fun concept with a bold execution, and this Electricianz S.NOW helps show the underlying design’s potential variety. Electronic technology is certainly amazing and worthy of celebration just as mechanical watches love to show off their intricate movements. In fact, I’d like to see even more of the movement in a way that lets you appreciate how it works, like maybe even the quartz oscillator itself. The Electricianz S.NOW comes on a white calf skin NATO-style strap with a bronze-colored buckle and keepers for a price of 345 CHF. the-electricianz.com
