Although the watch industry’s “color revolution” is in full swing, with more colorful and varied dial options available to consumers than ever before, very few brands have diversified into pastels. Oris is the prime exception to this, delivering softer, paler versions of popular color palettes across a handful of product lines. 2021’s fan-favorite Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy stands out as perhaps the brand’s most successful pastel offering to date, and as summer 2023 begins in earnest, Oris aims to follow up that success with a trio of new interpretations. Ditching the original models’ bronze cases in favor of clean, classic stainless steel, this new generation of Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy models combine timelessly handsome skin diver-style lines with splashes of light, breezy color to create a fun and fashionable summer-wear diver collection.

At 38mm-wide, the stainless steel cases of the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy collection maintain the styling and proportions of their bronze predecessors. Interestingly, this is the first time that the engraved bas-relief-style bezel insert has been installed in a standard production stainless steel Divers Sixty-Five case, but this design should feel familiar to fans of the brand otherwise. Overall, this is a simple, finely balanced vintage-style diver silhouette, with long, tapering athletic lugs, a prominent unguarded crown, and smooth, brightly polished case sides in images. Oris finishes these cases with solid engraved casebacks sporting the classic Oris shield emblem. Like the rest of the Divers Sixty-Five collection, Oris rates these watches for 100 meters of water resistance – a rather disappointing figure, given the oceanic connotations of the design.

Oris keeps the dial colorways of the 2021 Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy collection intact for these new iterations but updates these designs with new stainless steel dial hardware. The cooler tones of the steel applied diver indices, straight sword hands, and cases give these colors a substantially different character in images. The matte sky blue dial option is the strongest example of this shift in action. When paired with a bronze case, this dial hue comes off as soft (almost Easter egg-esque in images) and patinated without resorting to the usual fauxtina techniques. Here, alongside the brighter and colder tones of stainless steel, the same color appears richer, more masculine, and more contemporary in initial photos. By contrast, without the warmth of bronze to complement it, the sage green dial option feels almost ‘50s-esque when surrounded by brightly polished steel elements. As with the bronze models, however, the candy pink dial option remains a bolder visual statement than its counterparts. In terms of the dial layout, there are no real surprises here, and the Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy remains a handsomely restrained and balanced presentation of classic dive watch cues in images.

Inside each model in the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy collection beats the Sellita SW200-1 based Oris 733 automatic movement. The Oris 733 has been a stalwart option in the brand’s catalog for many years, but at a time when more of its rivals (and much of its own product line, as well) are turning to more capable in-house powerplants, this older movement is in danger of feeling underpowered in today’s market. Its 41-hour power reserve at a 28,800 bph beat rate is more or less average these days, but the reliability and easy serviceability of the base Sellita movement should not be discounted either. To complete the package, Oris offers each new stainless steel model in the Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy line with either a dial-matching perlon strap or a fully brushed stainless steel three-link rivet bracelet.

With handsome pastel colorways mated to clean, versatile stainless steel cases, the new stainless steel Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy line offers one of the series’ most intriguing, summery looks just as summer 2023 begins to ramp up. All three stainless steel models in the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy collection are available now through authorized dealers. MSRP for each of these models stands at $2,350 USD on perlon and $2,550 USD for bracelet-equipped models as of press time. For more information, please visit the brand’s website.
