July 1, 2021
July 2021 is here at last, and with short sleeve weather reaching its peak across much of the world there’s no better time to show off a vibrant sports chronograph. The aBlogtoWatch team is here to help, as we’re offering one lucky winner a bright and distinctive chronograph with ties to the thrilling world of espionage. Used by the Polish Foreign Intelligence Agency for ceremonial events and designed to commemorate Poland’s vital codebreaking work in World War II, the G. Gerlach Enigma is a tough and colorful chronograph that’s ready to take on the worst of the summer heat.
The 43mm 316L stainless steel case follows the classic ’70s cushion case formula, with short lugs that minimize overhang on the wrist despite the bold dimensions. A diver style rotating bezel tops the wide main case for added functionality. Piston pushers and a wide flaring crown add to the masculine vintage look. This sporting look isn’t all for show either, with a solid water resistance rating of 100 meters.
With its panda dial layout and bold lemon yellow accents, the dial of the G. Gerlach Enigma offers a playful and eye-catching look. The chunky applied indices and wide baton hands add to the Enigma’s sense of solidity and presence, while the stepped surface of the bi-compax subdials gives the design visual depth. G. Gerlach highlights its complications in vivid yellow, from the gauge-style needle hands used for the subdials and the central chronograph seconds hand to the striking hash marks of the outer tachymeter scale.
Inside the G. Gerlach Enigma beats a tough and reliable Miyota OS21 quartz chronograph movement. This dependable design offers quartz accuracy and durability for any application, as well as a 30 minute chronograph and a 24 hour hand. G. Gerlach pairs the Enigma with a bold and rugged shark mesh bracelet. MSRP for the G. Gerlach Enigma stands at 950 PLN.
