We debuted the Chopard Alpine Eagle watch collection with a hands-on back in 2019. Four years on, and the core collection expands with the Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS watch (reference 298623-3001). Following a tourbillon-equipped version, this is the first regular production Alpine Eagle watch with an L.U.C movement, a designation reserved for the brand’s more high-end calibers.

Some might have missed an L.U.C movement from the Alpine Eagle 41 when it debuted in 2019 — that is now rectified by the brand with the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS. In true XPS heritage, this piece features an ultra-thin movement, the L.U.C 96-40-L that measures just 3.30mm-thick. Courtesy of that, the case of the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS pairs an 8mm thickness to its 41mm diameter. The L.U.C 96-40-L is based on the established L.U.C 96-01-L caliber that was the brand’s first-ever, presented in 1996. Little trivia: The first two digits in L.U.C movement numbers refers to the year of its debut.

The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS watch is a double chronometer, meaning its accuracy has been tested and officially certified by COSC, as well as when attaining the Poinçon de Genève hallmark also known as the Geneva Seal. The movement has a 65-hour power reserve, operates at a modern 4Hz frequency, and is composed of 176 parts, including two stacked barrels as part of the Chopard Twin technology, all beautifully finished in compliance with the hallmark’s requirements.

The case and bracelet are in Lucent Steel A223, a remarkably white and bright metal that we have extensively reviewed in the hands-on debut of the collection. In a nutshell, Lucent Steel A223 is an ultra-resistant and remarkably shiny alloy made from 85% recycled materials, exclusive to Chopard. The dial of the Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS watch is in Monte Rosa Pink, inspired by the natural colors of the Alpine landscape, and features the collection’s trademark eagle’s iris pattern. The hands and applied hour markers are in white gold and have a Grade X1 Super-LumiNova coating for better low-light legibility.
