Stephen Silver (SH Silver) is the premier jewelry and watch retailer in Menlo Park, CA. The family-owned luxury retail business serves not only Silicon Valley but also clients across the United States interested in the unique and exclusive treasures offered by the acclaimed store. With a history focused on exceptional precious stones and high-grade jewelry, Stephen Silver’s son, Jared Silver, introduced watches into the business’ portfolio, and one of the most important brands featured at Stephen Silver is Swiss/Italian Bulgari.

In this special video produced for Stephen Silver by aBlogtoWatch, Stephen Silver’s President of Retail, Jared Silver, and Ariel Adams, founder of aBlogtoWatch, discuss why Bulgari as a brand is important to Stephen Silver and more specifically why Stephen Silver is so proud to feature a variety of timepieces in Bulgari’s larger Octo collection. The Octo collection has quickly become an enthusiast favorite from Bulgari and has its origin in wristwatch royalty. The Octo watch was originally designed by the revered Gerald Genta and was released under his own brand name more than 30 years ago. This is in contrast to popular Gerald Genta designs such as the Royal Oak and Nautilus, which he designed for third-party companies Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe, respectively, in the 1970s.

In the mid-2000s, Bulgari acquired the entirety of the Gerald Genta brand and quickly began to revitalize the Octo name by adapting and updating Genta’s historic designs thanks to Bulgari’s Creative Director, Fabrizio Buonamassa. Since then, Bulgari has not only refined but also greatly expanded the Octo collection. In addition to bearing a number of in-house mechanical movements, the Octo collection also features some of Bulgari’s most revered ultra-thin products within the Octo Finissimo family of very thin-cased timepieces. Bulgari has developed a range of impressive Octo Finissimo models with a series of complications ranging from simply the time to tourbillons, perpetual calendars, and even minute repeaters.

In this video, Jared Silver and Ariel Adams discuss a selection of Bulgari Octo watches that represent a sliver of what you can get from the brand at SH Silver. The ever-expanding Octo collection not only includes brand-new models on a regular basis but also a host of limited editions and exclusive high-luxury pieces that are not available everywhere. The video first features a Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Skeleton that is paired with a black ceramic case with a matching black ceramic bracelet. In this particular style, the Octo Finissimo Skeleton has a red-accented semi-dial that rests on top of the otherwise open watch face making it sporty and bold as well as elegant and sophisticated on the wrist.

One of the most popular Bulgari Octo models today is the record-setting (for thinness) Bulgari Octo Finissimo Automatic Chronograph GMT. Extremely thin on the wrist and available in a few styles, the movement of the Finissimo Chronograph features automatic winding with a peripheral rotor, a chronograph, and a GMT hand for a second timezone. Moving to another Octo watch with a useful complication is the Bulgari Octo Roma Worldtimer. This watch includes a handy world-timer dial with a display of all 24 time zones and uses the more rounded Bulgari Octo Roma-style case, seen here with a potent blue dial.

Finally, Adams and Silver discuss a platinum-cased Bulgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar. Another record-setting watch (again, for thinness), this perpetual calendar movement only needs to be adjusted once every four years and further includes automatic winding via a micro-rotor that can be admired through the rear of the case. This Octo model comes fitted with an attractive alligator strap, showing how handsome the Octo can be when it is paired with a band that is not only the design-matching bracelet.

Each of these Bulgari Finissimo and other Bulgari products can be officially purchased from Stephen Silver. To talk timepieces and jewelry with the specialist in Menlo Park, please visit the Stephen Silver website here.
