This week on Superlative, our host Ariel Adams was joined by Eugene Tutunikov, CEO of Swiss Watch Expo. To start the show, Ariel and Eugene talk about enthusiast media coverage in general and how it impacts the watch industry, as a whole, when it comes to consumer education and interest in the industry. They dive into issues regarding online watch sales, such as the challenge of getting inventory and the over-saturation points of certain markets, what companies currently do, and have the ability to do, with the knowledge of their customers’ buying habits and the “hyper-popularity” around certain luxury models, today. They also muse about how some consumers are interested in value retention and how some are more interested in just perceived value retention. Eugene also shares with Ariel a bit about their physical location in Atlanta for Swiss Watch Expo, their impressive showroom and inventory, and the idea of an ABTW event possibly being held there in the future!

There was so much to talk about when it came to Watches & Wonders this year that we brought you two episodes this week of aBlogtoWatch Weekly! For the first episode, Ariel and Rick are joined by Zach and David to talk about “how the sausages are made” as they unload about the technicalities and hurdles of photographing watches at an event like Watches and Wonders. They cover “Rolex resentment” as they explore the launch of the “Lefty O’Clock” GMT and the competition from the other major brands this year. The guys start to really dive into their “Show Top 10” lists in the second episode of the week, and we want to hear from you if you agree with their picks. Tell us in the comments below what your Top 10 list is for Watches & Wonders 2022.
