As we wind down to the end of December and of the year, we check out a couple of new watches: A. Lange & Söhne’s new Lange 1 Moon Phase watch; L. Leroy’s Osmior Tourbillon Regulateur Automatique; and Shinola’s charming 47mm Runwell. We also speak to Montblanc’s new CEO, Jerome Lambert, and also debate upon IWC’s brand direction and find out how you can keep your watches clean.
I hope you have enjoyed my round-ups thus far, and here’s wishing all readers a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
1. L. Leroy Osmior Tourbillon Regulateur Automatique Watches Hands-On
L. Leroy (Le-raw, not Lee-roy) was a prominent watchmaker in the 18th century and his name appeared on pocket watches and wristwatches in the early 20th century. The brand has been resurrected as a high-end luxury brand and we recently had the chance to take a look at some watches from their Osmior collection. If you are looking for a high-end tourbillon watch that’s not from your usual suspects, these are well worth a second look.
2. Shinola Runwell 47mm Review
If you are from the United States, chances are, you would have heard of Shinola, a brand that is garnering a lot of excitement in this part of the world, mostly thanks to the fact that it celebrates the American spirit. It is proudly based in Motor City and we visited their factory back in May. Here we take a look at one of their recent releases, the 47mm large Runwell.
3. A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Watch For 2014 Hands-On
SIHH is just around the corner and already brands are beginning to show off their new watches. New to A. Lange & Söhne for 2014 is the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase. Needless to say, like many other Lange pieces, the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase is simply exquisite. Hit the link below to see more photos of this beauty and to find out more about its redesigned dial and movement.
4. Conversation With Jerome Lambert, New CEO Of Montblanc
Former CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre, Jerome Lambert has done a lot of good work at La Grande Maison, so it should come as no surprise that he was the man chosen to take over Montblanc. Montblanc is, of course, one of Richemont’s biggest brands, manufacturing a wide range of products including watches, pens, leather goods and jewelry. Find out what are some of Lambert’s thoughts on his new appointment.
5. Seiko Astron GPS Solar 2013 Watches Hands-On
If there was ever one quartz watch that I have lusted for, it is the Seiko’s new Astron GPS Solar watches. As its name suggests, these watches rely on GPS signals to determine their location and are then able to sync with them so that you can have the precise time no matter where you are. It really is the ultimate traveller’s watch and we just had a hands-on session with the new 2013 models.
6. Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec GMT FourX Watch Review
Ariel believes Bucherer to be an up and coming brand and their Patravi TravelTec GMT FourX watch (a mouthful, I know) is an interesting looking watch that combines two useful complications – the GMT and chronograph. Not too many watches have these two complications, so if you are looking for one, it’s worth checking this out.
